An Open Letter to Surefit

Dear Surefit Corporation,

I just wanted to let you know that I am sure that your slipcovers do NOT, in fact, fit my sofa or chair.

See exhibit A:

And here is Exhibit B:

They may be great for someone who does not have monkeys children jumping all over them, but they failed my furniture.  Miserably.

Please do not tell me about your rolled up magazine with rubber bands trick.  We have an entire year’s worth of Parents Magazine stuffed in there, and as you can clearly see it is not helping the situation.

If I had a penny for every time I had to tuck the damn things back in, I would be able to buy myself (and everyone on my street) a new sofa and chair that requires no tucking of any kind.

I was hoping I would love your slipcovers, but instead I want to cry each and every time I enter my living room.

I just thought you should know.  Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Jen

I feel your pain! You actually managed to make me happy that I just went out and spent $2,500 on new living room furniture yesterday instead of opting for slip covers! I know that the difference in price between my new living room set and a set of slip covers is astronomical…but it’s worth it for the peace of mind it will bring!
Sorry for your suffering. I feel the same way every time I look at my stained and frumpy furniture. Now I just have to wait the 10-12 weeks for the new stuff to arrive. I hope that you are able to find a better solution soon!

I feel your pain! We bought one several years ago to give our ugly, beat-up recliner a makeover and it was just a waste of money we could have put towards buying a new chair!
    Ugh!

    Okay THIS is hilarious.
    And sad because it’s true.
My couch looks the same way only I don’t have kids.

I finally gave up the slipcover war. They won, I accepted it, and turned my couch and chair into kid furntire. Actaully, ALL the furniture in my house is now kid furniture . I won’t be buying anything new for them to destroy until they leave for college.

Luckily my microsuede couch cleans up pretty well with a cloth and water.

Which reminds me, I need to put my slipcovers on Craig’s List for some other poor sucker to buy and fight with.

I have to agree it doesn’t loook pretty.

But on the plus side you got them in a colour that means the kids would have destroyed them in 6 months and then you can splurge on a new sofa.

    I love open letters.
This is one I won’t have to write.
    You did it for me.
    thanks!
    I feel the same way.
I have a chair with a black slip cover on it.
    It always looks terrible.
    Not. good.
There must be a better way!

I bought one of these once and promptly returned it. It sucked so bad on my couch!! The picture on the cover made it look so perfect. Liars!!!

I’ve been thinking of covering my horribly ugly couch, but now I’m not so sure I should bother. It looks like I could get the same results with a king sized sheet!

I returned mine too – it was brutal – seriously, who do these things work for???? No one I know.

See if you can return it – just say it doesn’t fit and you are totally unsatisfied with it. Show the pictures!!

It’s cute that you tossed on the cushions to try to give the pathetic cover a real chance :-)

Oh this cracked me right up. I’m still laughing. I, too, love the soothing effect that the throw pillows have on the munched up couch! It’s like they don’t even notice… hehehehe Great post!

Being wee tiny foot tall monkeys, we have no problem when jumping on the couch. (The slip cover is a stylin’ by the way.) We can jump for hours and the slip cover never seems to move. We do annoy those humans who live with us though… :( ) G-Mo and B-Man

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I wish I would have known you’d ordered slip covers from them! I would have jumped up and down and did a strange little dance in order to keep you from the pain and misery we went through with ours. To say they looked miserable on our furniture (we are stupid and bought WHITE SUEDE! What was I thinking?), bunched, scrunched and eventually crunched. I hated those things! Sent them back less than a week after getting them last year.

I still have white suede furniture….well sort of.

Dying laughing! LOVE your letter! Did you send it yet with the photos? Seriously they need to know. We had one once and sad to say, it looked worse to have it on the couch, than it did to have our 15 year old 70’s style orange couch on display without the slipcover.

    Still laughing…

Ugh, slipcovers. No matter how wonderful they are supposed to be, they always SUCK. You can make them look pretty if no one wants to sit on the furniture, but as soon as your husband or kid plops down on the sofa it is all over.

Holy crap, look at all your comments! What’d I miss?!

I feel your pain. Man, those things are expensive, too. I finally just gave ours away and bought new furniture, and I’m sooooo relieved not to be constantly tucking in all the time!

I had to laugh so hard when I read your post :) I, too, hate slipcovers!! I have never seen any that have looked good :) Thanks for the laugh–although I’m sorry they didn’t work out for you.

    Happy POW!

I swear, you could spend a thousand dollars on a slip cover, and it would still do that!

You are better off just buying new furniture!

Honestly, the chair looks sad. If chairs had emotions, its emotion would be complete exhaustion coupled with regret and tears. I’m so sorry. I hate the slipcover wars too…

Yikes! I feel your pain! I finally gave up and just threw my couch out. Could not deal with it. Have not found a slipcover that actually does what it is supposed to do.
Hope you find something that works!
