Coming Out
Today’s theme song must be “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross:
I’m all for coming out of the closet. While it is really no one else’s business what a person’s sexual preference happens to be, I do admire the courage it takes to be openly gay, especially when you are in the limelight.

I’m happy for Clay Aiken. There was so much speculation that I think it became a bit distracting and took away from his music (not that I’m a huge fan or anything). I’m glad that he finally put the rumors to rest.
On the other hand, I can’t help but not be as happy for Lindsay Lohan and her decision come out today. It isn’t because she is a lesbian. I love lesbians. My first cousin is a lesbian. I love Ellen. I’m all for the lesbians.
I’m just mad at her for trying to steal Clay’s gay thunder. Today is his gay day. Why couldn’t she pick next week or next month to make her announcement?
Also, I’m confused. I thought she already came out about her relationship with Samantha Ronson a long time ago.
Why did this even make CNN news? Is CNN trying to distract me from the scary stories about failing banks and North Korea’s Nuclear program. If that was your plan, it worked.

Got something to say?

Well as much as I’m not SURPRISED, Lindsay being a lesbian is certainly news to me. And here I thought she was just a sloppy drunk. I’m definitely more impressed by Clay coming out and his reasons for doing so. I can’t help but think Lohan was just trying to make sure her spotlight doesn’t fade and that men everywhere will lust after her a bit longer…

i certainly don’t consider it coming out when she has a myspace plastered with her g/f’s pictures, is very honest about being in a relationship with her and they sign certain blog post/opinion letters together…
as for Clay. Who didn’t know? The most shocking thing to me was “he’s a dad?” when did that happen?

I don’t think that Lindsay ever “officially” said that she was a lesbian before. It has been obvious for quite some time that she has been in some sort of relationship with Samantha Ronson, but to my knowledge, neither one of them ever made any sort of official comment regarding their status. It is a bit odd that she happened to choose the same day to come out as Clay did. Maybe there’s something in the water?
I’m glad that Clay finally fessed up, because I mean, come on- like we didn’t already know? Give me a break. Just own it already.
I have a cousin whom I love like crazy who is gay. He came out to my Mom when he was a teenager. Our family had been speculating from the time he was about 3…but he was shocked that no one was surprised by his revelation. I think that happens a lot.
My feeling has always been that he is who he is, and I love him no matter who he chooses to sleep with.
I’m glad that Clay chose not to live a lie with his child/children. They deserve better than that.

Hmmmmm, I used to have a secret crush on Clay way back when he was on American Idol. Is that bad?

WHAT?!?! Clay is gay? So is Lindsay????!!
Seriously, what are you going to tell me next –that Jodie Foster is gay?!?
(Which would really send shockwaves through me.)

Your right it’s no ones business but if you’re pregnant, you’re pregnant (j-lo), and if you’re gay, you’re gay (Clay), if you’re in the light we’ll find out eventually so just come out and say it.
BTW- I don’t think la lohan is a lesbian, but her girlfriend is.

No Way! You always have all the good dirt. I love to come by and get a break from “McClaine used the big boy toilet today” blah, blah, blah!

Did we really need a magazine to tell us Clay is gay? I think Lohan is just experimenting but that’s just my opinion.

LMAO @ McMommy.
Yea, I’m sorta in the “who cares” camp. I am really proud of Clay, though, for some of the things he said. And I don’t even like his music….

Does anyone really care who LL sleeps with? I don’t. In fact, LL kinda turns my stomach. I am so tired of her! Big deal. And for CNN to ort it like its “breaking news” is just plain stupid. I’ll get off my soapbox now : ).

You’re kidding…. Clay Aiken’s gay??? Never would have guessed! What do the “Clay-mates” do now???? And Lindsay just wants to steal the limelight away from him… she can’t do anything else… except perhaps another stint in rehab???
[Reply]
That is NOT news. CNN should get a spanking for that.
And yes, she did steal his thunder. Poor dude. Not that I’m a big fan of either of them.

I’m all about celebrities, who would make movies without them? But it blows my mind that stuff like this shows up on CNN, or MSNBC when there are much more important things going on in the world. Remember the 24/7 coverage of Paris’s jail stint? It’s like society has gone slightly retarded.

You know…it just really doesn’t matter to me. I like Clay Aiken…straight, gay, green with purple polkadots…I care not, and think it’s a shame that our society makes people feel like they have to ADMIT things about their personal lives. It is not our business. Perhaps one might argue that this is the price a celebrity pays. We have a good friend, a man, who has had a male companion for 15 plus years. Yep…we’re pretty sure they’re gay but you know, they’ve never said it and we’ve never said it and we all get along just hunky dory.
Lohan…oh for goodness sake. Who gives a rooty toot toot anyway. What a waste of talent.
