Fine By 2009: 2 Weeks To Go!

I’m going to make this quick because I’m feeling a little under the weather today.

Last week’s Silver Workout Medal winners were  Jen @ Momma Blogs Alot and Andrea at Red Knows How.

Way to go girls!!

Here are a few tips that I ran across this week that I thought might be helpful to everyone as they continue on their journey to fit:

  • Think about what you can add to your diet, not what you should take away. (ie fruits, veggies, and other healthy snacks)

  • Enjoy your treats away from home. (An example they give is going out for ice cream instead of keeping a half gallon container on hand.  Keeping them outside your own house makes it harder to indulge as frequently.)

  • Spice it up. (Adding spices to your foods will be more satisfying so you don’t eat as much.)

Do you have any other tips to add to this list? How did you do this week?

Mister Linky is not working today for me.  If you wrote an update post, please feel free to leave the link in the comments.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m just starting my weight loss journey now…gained a bit too much weight during exams, when I was constantly snacking. But here’s a tip I read about recently: if you have a craving, go ahead and indulge yourself but restrict yourself to two bites. Because studies have shown that after the first two bites, the taste buds on the tongue acclimate themselves to whatever you’re eating, so that the strongest taste (and hence, the most enjoyable taste) will be in those first two bites. I tried it when I wanted ice cream yesterday, and surprisingly, I felt satisfied (and extremely good with my will power).

Just a little throw out…I’ve added a good amount of yogurt to my diet…the kind with added fiber…and I am finding a big difference. Top the plain kind with some blueberries and flax for an amazing snack or meal. MmmmMmmmm.

Keep up the great work Jen, and all the other participants. I’m cheering you ALL on from the sidelines.

Tried Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds today – did the 1 mile walk which was a little over 10 minutes of walking and then a few minutes of stretching. I’ll try to get another 10 minutes of something in today. :)

Okay just did 10 minutes of Wii Sports (and kicked ass if I do say so myself) to finish out my 20 minutes for the day :)

Like yesterday I did about 10 minutes of the walk at home DVD and 10 minutes of Wii Sports. :)

Finally worked out for the first time in almost two weeks – losing power made me lose my ambition. ARGH. 20 minutes of Leslie Sansone’s power walking.
