Fine By 2009: 3 Weeks to Go!

So, a few days ago I got the following email from a friend:

By the way, how is your dieting going?  I noticed you stopped mentioning your own personal weight loss on Mondays.

I thought I had been doing a great job distracting you with the David Beckham pics that no one noticed that I hadn’t actually been doing my own weekly check-ins.  Leave it to my oldest and closest friend to call me out on this.

Actually, the truth is that I have been avoiding the scale.  I can tell by the way my clothes are fitting (TIGHT!!) that I’m not making any progress.  I haven’t been exercising, and although I’m trying to watch what I eat, I’m not really cutting back enough to make a difference.

The results are putting me at about the same weight I’ve been for the past few months.  No more, no less.

I could wallow in my failures or I can take this week to start over and try to once again commit to a healthier lifestyle.  I’m choosing to start over.

Let’s take a look at who gets a Weekly Workout Winner Medal this week:

Gold Medal= 5-7 Workouts:

Andrea @ Red Knows How

Jen E. @ Momma Blogs Alot

Please go over to their blogs and congratulate them for their efforts.  I am so proud of them!

I am skipping the Beckham picture this week, because I was thinking he was a curse to my workout efforts, so I’m switching it up and going back to my true motivation:

Oh you thought I was going to say that I want to get healthy, tone up, have more energy.  Yeah all that, but I also want to be light enough that my husband (or Ryan Gosling) can easily pick me up to act out this kiss scene.

So dumb, but so true.

And if you are thinking about buying a Wii Fit, check out this mom’s incredible weight loss success story with it.  I may consider buying one after all.

So, how was your week?

Congrats on finally speaking up on your own journey through this process. It’s hard, damn hard. But even just admitting what’s going on is good.

    Thanks for the medal!!

Good for you for trying to start over!!! This time of year is SO freaking hard to lose weight. My pants are all tight too – I think I’m going to give it up and wait until after the holidays for the serious weight loss though. Maybe my new goal is maintain and stop gaining before I even eat Christmas dinner!!!

so… haven’t lost any from the start…but I don’t know that I will see incredible weight loss.

I’m working out 2-3 days a week for 2 hours at a time…and then a little special 10 minute ab workout whenever I feel up to it throughout each day.

I’m on an 1800 calorie diet to lose some weight…and it’s going really well because the only food I have in the house is the food for this diet that I’ve stuck my whole family on.

We (my husband, myself, and our daughters) weren’t getting enough veggies and meat, but way too much dairy. I went to http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/ and put in what we were eating. Oh my goodness, it was bad bad bad. So, I modified it to what we like to eat and played with the quantities til we’re all getting the right amount of the food groups and fufilling our calorie intake without tons of ‘bad’ fats.

Hopefully these changes will be fruitful. I already feel like I have more energy…and I’m having an easier time moving my bowels (not that you need to know I’m not pooping baseballs anymore). Both plusses in my book.

Did 20-25 minutes of Wii – I’m feeling all first trimester unnecessarily exhausted. I was going to try that walk at home online video but it doesn’t seem to work on my Mac so I added an old fashioned DVD to my netflix queue :)

I actually haven’t been getting to work out much because of my rib problem…but I am hoping to ease back into it this week!

I’ve been awful this week. Let me admit it fully. Thursday 20 minutes of power walking while watching tv (total multi-tasking). I did 15 minutes of power walking on both Tuesday and Wednesday, but I won’t lie and make them 20 minutes because they weren’t.

Lost internet over the weekend and just got it back, let’s see… Friday I did Wii, same as Saturday and Sunday I also took a 1 1/2 mile walk with my husband – long over due. So yeah, I know I’m late but there you go – just happy to have my internet back!
