Fine By 2009: 7 Weeks to Go

My Progress:

Awful!

I don’t have to get on the scale to know that I haven’t really made any real progress this week.  Unless, of course, you consider my clothes fitting tighter progress.  That is pretty much a telltale sign that things are not going as planned.

This week will be better. I can feel it!

A Tip:

I’m not sure where I read this but I thought it may be worth passing on in case there are any brave souls out there willing to give it a try.  The best way to get motivated to workout is to exercise in your underwear.  The idea is that you will see all your trouble spots and be more likely to keep at it.  It sounds like an interesting concept, but at the same time pretty horrifying.  I think the person who came up with this idea is assuming you do your workout at home, but if you are brave enough to try it at the gym then more power to ya!

Speaking of Working Out In Your Underwear:

The Weekly Workout Challenge:

If you are not up to the underwear challenge, I’ve got something a little less daunting.  Here’s all you have to do to participate:

1. Bookmark this post so that you can easily come back to it.

2.  Every time you workout for 20 minutes or longer this week, come back to this post to check in.

3.  Leave a comment with the exercise you did and how long you worked out.

4.  Next Monday, one winner winner will be picked and receive a personal training session with David Beckham!*

*Actually, that is a lie.  Instead there will be really lame prizes.   I will give out medals to the top performers.  (Gold Medal=4-7 workouts; Silver Medal= 1-3 workouts)

How will I know if you really completed the workouts?

I won’t.  You could leave a bunch of comments saying you ran 4 marathons this week in your underwear and I would never know the difference.  That’s the beauty of the internet.  You can be a liar and still get a medal, but where is the fun in that?

If you are up to the challenge leave me a comment and let me know.  You do not have to be a regular Fine by 2009 challenger to participate.  Anyone can join in.  You also don’t have to be a blogger.  If you win a medal you can print it out and tape it to your refrigerator.

Don’t forget to check back each time you complete a workout (You know you want to see that picture of Becks anyway).  This should be fun!

If you did a weekly check-in, link up with Mister Linky below.  Feel free to mention the Exercise Challenge in your post.

Cute idea Jen! Maybe the thought of looking at that picture again will be enough to get me to work out this week!

I can tell you that I’ll work out twice this week for roller derby practice and be too sore and tired to do any other workout (unless you consider marathon cleaning and baking on Saturday followed by a craft show on Sunday that I still have to get ready for.)

I’ll post in my blog later, but my husband totally told me that he can see I’ve been losing weight!

Personally, I’m motivated by any kind of reward given by someone other than myself. The prize could be a paperclip and I’d work extra hard to achieve it. So yes, I’ll be commenting each time I work out this week. I managed to work out a few times this week so I’m aiming at that gold medal baby!!

I’m off to write my post.

Does it have to be twenty simultaneous workouts? Most of mine peak around 10-15 minutes but I often double up and do another workout later. For instance I just did 10 minutes of a 15 minute cardio dancing thing but had to give up 10 minutes in. I might do more later though. The video was cheesy cheesy but supposedly low intensity, can’t remember the name anymore but I’ll mention it later in my LF2009 post later.

So I don’t have enough energy to work out and I love sweets so one would think that I wouldn’t be losing weight, but I am. Like crazy! I have gone down 3 pant sizes. Damn chemo. I am losing weight and my hair!

So last week went pretty smoothly and I had plans for more of the same this week. Then on the way home from the supermarket (where I didn’t buy any yummy things) I rear ended someone.

Rob came home from work early and came bearing Pepsi and chocolate and right now that is the TLC I need. So screw the exercise I am comfort eating.

But I’ll be checking back all week if only for my Becks fix. Is it healthy that I have been in love with him for 12 years now?

I did it!! I worked out today just for you. I tried out 5 minutes of three different workout videos (Thanks to Netflix.com to letting me watch these online) and didn’t like any of them! Then I did 5 minutes of a Jillian Michaels workout and I’ve never felt like my butt’s been kicked worse than it has EVER with her. I may have only made it 3.5 minutes but it FELT longer. Alot longer. She’s one scary trainer but I love her anyways.

Success! I did that 10 minute workout I mentioned and then a 20 minute walk with the hubby tonight – I’m feeling very pumped! Let’s hope I keep this up throughout the week and you know, indefinitely.

I LOVE that picture of David Beckham… He’s so beautiful… I don’t know why his wife looks so unhappy all the time, if I got to look at that everyday, I don’t think you could wipe the smile off my face!!!

Oh and with the medals??? Great idea!!! I’m going to be the Michael Phelps of working out this week… I’ve already run once this week so here’s my first comment!!

I had a crappy week, also… I’ll write about it later tonight!!

You never fail to make my day a brighter!!

The thought of excersing in my underwear is terrifying! I think I would rather be obese than excersise in my undies!

I am going to try and do workouts in the evenings. But who knows. I say these things and they never actually happen. I like to say them and feel better about myself whilst eating a Twix. Like it’s ok I am eating this glorious Twix bar because I am going to start working out tomorrow…hahahahaa oh how I like to lie to myself! Did I mention the Twix bar was king size. Yeah. I just scarfed it down…but I am going to work out tomorrow!

I saw a chick running in my neighborhood the other day in what I am pretty sure was her underwear. I was just jealous that I could NEVER pull that off. Not even in my younger years.

    That picture is HOT!

I was too pooped out to get on the computer last night because I WORKED OUT!! lol. So this is my notification that yesterday, Monday, I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then another 20 minutes doing crunches, hiney lifts and stretches with my 7 year old. FYI, if you ever need motivation in the stretching department, recruit a young, incredibly-bendy munchkin. She kept laughing at me because I couldn’t do HALF of what she was. But, dog-gone-it, I made sure that by the end that I was limber enough to make it halfway to where she was. I’m going to use her everyday from here on out!

Day 2 – another 20 minute walk with the dh – this is the third day we’ve taken the walk since sunday I’m finally thinking it’s getting easier again – why did I give up those walks in the first place?? Probably the lack of Beckham motivation!

    | Look at Jen going for that gold medal!

I did 20 minutes of Billy Banks Taibo. I was not in my underwear..well I mean I was… but also the hubs boxers and t-shirt. Of course the “welcome to the neighborhood committee” decides to ring the door bell and leave some goodies. Thank God they just left it at the door!

Again, too pooped out last night to comment but I’m here today to say that Tuesday I did even better than Monday!! I did the elliptical for 30 minutes with another 20 minutes of stretching, crunches and hiney lifts. And my body is SORE! I’m sooo outta shape! =0)

I’m finally jumping in! I did 20 min of exercise today (Wed). Jumping jacks, jogging in place, squats, weights for arms, crunches, pushups and yoga. I’m going for 25 minutes tomorrow!

It’s me again! Last night I did another 30 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes of crunches, hiney lifts and stretching. Shouldn’t I be able to wrap my legs around my head by now?? My husband thinks so. Apparently my muscles are a little more attrophied (sp?!!) than I thought. Ah well.

I did 20 minutes, same exercises as yesterday. I thought it didn’t make a difference yesterday but I was pretty sore today so I must have done something. Also, I had a TON of energy last night and felt so great mentally. I really need to keep up with this!

I worked out yesterday for 20 minutes (was too tired afterwards to post this) I “power” walked 1.5 miles in my bedroom. Thank goodness for workout DVDs. I will be doing more working out tonight. YAH for medals!!

  27. Andrea - Red Knows How on November 14th, 2008 9:16 am

Ok! I did it again and power walked a mile. I wanted to do the extra half mile, BUT the youngest daughter had an asthma attack – sigh. It only was 15 minutes, do you think it can still count towards a medal???

Oh i meant to post that yesterday (Thursday) the hubby and I went to his old college campus for some dorky engineering thing and it ended up involving at least 20 if not 30 minutes of treking across campus and up and down the longest flight of stairs you’ve ever seen FOUR times – if that’s not exercise I don’t know what is – I actually thought I’d die on that staircase for a few unpleasant minutes! :) Luckily I survived :) That makes 3 for the week so far, but I’m hoping to squeeze in a fourth tonight… course hubby is running late so we’ll see if that happens.

So yesterday I wasn’t feeling as energetic as normal since I’d only gotten 2 hrs of sleep thanks to a sick 2 year old. BUT I still managed to get in 20 minutes of crunches, stretches and hiney lifts before I fell asleep, right there on my yoga mat, right in the middle of one of my favorite shows… CSI. Dang it! I was so irritated with myself when I woke up an hour later to realize I’d missed the 40 minutes of the show.

Sorry, got a bit behind in my exercise comments. Friday I only managed to exercise for 15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes of crunches and hiney lifts. Saturday I didn’t do any FORMAL exercise but I photographed a wedding from 1pm until 9pm and let me tell you, I am SORE! The camera was a lot heavier than I am used to and apparently I crouched down a lot more than I realized because not only are my arms sore from the camera lifting but my hiney and quads are reeling in shock today. I don’t know if Saturday counts or not. I’ll leave it up to you.

Now I just have to dig deep for the energy to exercise tonight.

Squeezing in just under the wire :) – I took a 20 minute walk or so with the hubby today and also played Wii bowling, boxing, tennis & baseball with him for I’m not sure how long – does that count as a workout?

Ran for one hour on Saturday… too lazy to do anything on Sunday… just looking at that picture of David makes my heart rate soar… so I looked at it for 30 minutes… does that count???? No, not really but that’s a good thought, right??? I did really run an hour Saturday….
