I just posted my update... Holding steady, keeping up the water intake, working on the earlier bedtimes and keeping snacking down. =0)

Great job on the five pounds! Jillian scares me too. But she's who'd I want scaring me right into my size 4 jeans! lol

And thanks for the visual of The Ring. Now I won't be able to turn my tv on to watch Biggest Loser tonight!!

Love the redesign. My biggest tip is teeth brushing. The more I brush my teeth, the less hungry I feel. Not much tastes great with tooth paste. Oh, about Mr. Linky, you may need to reinstall the code to your header. If you already did that, then I have no clue. My post is up

Those are great tips! I actually weigh in on Tuesdays so, I'll post an update tomorrow. I think I did okay but, we'll see! I eat a small piece of cheese if I am starting to get hungry especially after dinner and it helps for me. I've tried the Weight Watchers preportioned cheddar cheese slices and also LivActive and I like both and it is a great thing you can grab when you are on your way out the door. I know I haven't been drinking my water like I should so, that's going to be a big focus this week. :)

I used to work at a holistic health center where we taught people about getting to and maintaining a healthy weight via proper diet and exercise. There are two very important factors when you're trying to eat better.

1. Accessibility. People eat what's convenient, no matter what it is. So make sure you always have healthy food that's convenient and accessible. At home I always have boiled eggs, so I can easily grab one or two when hunger strikes. I wash, cut up, and portion out fruits and veggies ahead of time, so I can just grab a baggie of grapes or carrots or whatever out of the fridge. I also keep a container of stuff to throw together a quick wrap: whole wheat tortillas, cooked chicken, kidney beans, fresh baby spinach, cheese, grape tomatoes, and ranch or honey mustard dressing. In the winter I heat the chicken and beans.

2. Protein. When your blood sugar drops, you need protein immediately. If you don't have protein handy, you're liable to shove anything in your face you can find, which doesn't solve the problem, so you just keep stuffing your face until you can find protein. When I worked I always kept a bag of nuts in my desk, usually almonds. You don't have to refrigerate them, and it's easy to just shove a handful in your mouth when you need it. If you just snack on small protein bits throughout the day, you're more likely to eat more reasonable meals.

Another thing I recommend to a certain degree is chewing gum. It does two things: keeps your mouth busy, and helps you feel energetic and purposeful. The only thing I don't like about it is that it makes you feel like you're getting enough to drink when you're not. It keeps your mouth moist so you're less likely to recognize when you're thirsty. But if you are careful to stay hydrated, gum can be a great diet / energy tool.

My update is up and running. I think I need to add a workout DVD to the TOP of my netflix queue instead of letting them just chill in the middle somewhere around 100. Prioritize?

GRRRR. Didn't lose any weight this week. It's exactly the same as it was last week. 3 pounds total in 3 weeks. Of course, I didn't exercise, but I did good with my food consumption. I guess that's telling me something. The good news is that I didn't gain any weight back AND the stale scale motivated me. I did some yoga (for stretching) this morning on the Wii fit and then went for a 30 minute fast-paced walk. It was a good work-out. I was actually sweating and out of breath. And, I'm recruiting a few neighbors to bike or walk with me in the evenings before it starts to get too chilly. Wish me luck on continued motivation!
