Friday Eye Candy: Blake’s Picks
Alright ladies, step aside. This week is for the guys.
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Blake. He wrote:
“I thought I’d send my own list of eye candy. I realize it’s markedly different than the lists that most of your other readers submit, but I thought I’d do it just for fun.”
Then he went on to list all of the women on his celebrity laminated list. I decided to go ahead and feature Blake’s list for a couple of reasons.
1. I like Blake. He leaves me lots of nice, funny comments. You all know I’m a sucker for comments. Plus, I really enjoy the movie reviews on his site.
2. You all said you wouldn’t mind too much if we took a break from the sexy guys and featured some gorgeous women.
3. I think we can appreciate the beauty of the female form and I approve (for the most part) all of his picks. This is very important because if he sent me a bunch of Hooters girls, porn stars and swimsuit models, I would have to decline. I appreciate that he took the time to explain his picks, and didn’t seem to just pick them because they had a nice rack. (Even though many of them do.) I left the explanations on there so you could see the reasons for his choices.
Without further ado, here is our first Female Version of Friday Eye Candy.
1. Angelina Jolie – Call me a cliche, but come on. She’s stunning. I’ve been a fan since her Gia performance on HBO. She’s also a wicked talented actress (see ‘Girl, Interrupted’ and ‘A Mighty Heart’ for her greatest performances).
2. Natalie Portman – A Harvard grad, also wicked talented and gorgeous. She also takes a lot of risks in her career that usually end up paying off (see ‘Paris, Je T’aime, and ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ for some really great performances). We’ll just pretend that Star Wars thing never happened.
3. Jennifer Connelly – While her acting chops can blow me away, she’s pretty much just great to look at. And her choice in movies keeps me coming back for more (see ‘Little Children’ and ‘Requiem For a Dream’).
4. Kate Winslet – She won me over in Titanic (understandably so, since I was like, 15 when that came out), but it seems to me she just gets better as we go along (see ‘Little Children,’ ‘Finding Neverland,’ ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,’ pretty much anything she’s in).
5. Julianne Moore – So, I might have a thing for older women. But Julianne Moore definitely makes my list. She’s just hot (see ‘Magnolia’ and ‘The Hours’).
6. Keira Knightley – Young, British, brilliant in her acting, and I wish she was my girlfriend (see ‘Atonement’ and ‘Love Actually’).
7. Vera Farmiga – Mark my words, this woman will totally win an Oscar sometime soon (see ‘The Departed’)
8. Monica Belucci – She had me at ‘The Matrix 2,’ but truth be told, I’m not familiar with her other work.
The last few make me feel really trashy. But I’m 23. So, I can still grow out of it.

For this weeks Aloha Friday question, I’m going to ask you which one of Blake’s picks is your favorite. In other words, if you had to switch teams for a night, which female celebrity (Blake’s or otherwise) do you find most attractive?

Man, it’s a toss up between Angelina and Jennifer. Mostly because if I’m gonna switch teams for a night, I want to make sure that I’m thoroughly satisfied and I think the two of them would be the ones to do it. They just seem like that would enjoy it, too.
I’ll take the lesser road and say Jennifer.

I think Kiera and Natalie are my favorites on his list – and also 2 ladies on my list for John Mayer’s next girlfriend – coincidence? I think not.

I’ll go with #8, Monica, because that’s the hottest picture and I wish I could look like that. NOT Lindsay Lohan, she doesn’t fit on this list any way shape or form!

I had a really hard time finding a picture of Lindsay that wasn’t too trashy. I just don’t know why she wants to market herself like that. There is a difference between sexy and trashy and she needs to figure that out.
Ok, I guess if I had to pick I would choose Jennifer Connelly. Angelina is sexy, but after watching Wanted, she just scares me.
I absolutely ADORE Kate Winslet, but I think it would be too weird to mess around with her because she is one of my pretend best friends.

I am so impressed with Blake’s picks, but even more so, his reasoning. Very cool for a 23 year old!
My pick would have to be Angelina Jolie. She seems like she would just be so cool, and actually enjoy it!

I like Keira Knightley mainly for her advocacy of small breasts. I’m not small breasted, wish I was. I just think it’s awesome that she refuses to allow people to pad her up. She’s proud of herself just the way she is.

ANGELINA by far! I am totally obsessed with her – I wish I had her life. I mean, come on, hot man by her side, wants to save the world, beautiful children and she is just gorgeous!!!!!! Those lips, eyes, teeth, hair – everything is just perfect. And where I appreciate everyone has their own opinion, I have to say “no way” to LL (I don’t even need to explain why) and KK (way too skinny!). Oh, but LL, even before she hit it “big” I didnt’ care for her – her teeth have always ick’d me out. It always amazes me how LL is on so many guy lists. I remember after the Olympics in Athens a reporter asked Michael Phelps who he thinks is hot in Hollywood and he said LL as well. I immediately thought, “ewwww”. A girl not on the list that I am recently obsessed with as well is Scarlet. She is so beautifull, she embraces her “curves” and her sense of style is so classy. Oh, and Jennifer needs to wax her eyebrows some more. And does anyone remember Julianne on As the World Turns??? That’s how she first got her start.

I would have to say Angelina is definitely the hottest woman on that list. And Lauren Conrad? What the heck is going on in this world? First she’s on the cover of EW, then I catch my husband watching The Hills with our baby boy… and now this. I can’t get away from her! Help!

I would definitely say Leighton Meester and Kristen Bell. I have such a HUGE crush on those two ladies, it’s ridiculous. And I don’t even mean their characters on their shows but rather them, from what I can see through interviews and such.
And Kate Winslet is such an awesome choice in the list! I love her and her acting chops..she made me go gushy for her in The Holiday…*clutches heart*

Ok here’s the deal.
I know Blake personally and I give him crap about that Lohan trash all the time. Not acceptable. Also, he’s the big 2-4 now. So Lohan should be off his list for sure.
But lets be honest…I’d take any of the other girls for a night of switched teams. Who doesn’t want to get a little wild every now and then?

I’m going to have to agree most with Jennifer Connelly followed by Julianne Moore. I totally don’t get the Kiera Knightley thing. Something about her mouth–maybe the way she talks??–dunno, but it bugs me.

I would have to pick Vera Farmiga – (The Departed is one of my all-time favorite movies EVER – love the chemistry between her and Leo DiCaprio).

I love you gave the boys a chance, I need to show my hubby. I’ve just never gotten the Angelina thing, I don’t get her appeal. I think she looks like a Prey Mantis. But of his list I like a lot of his Ladies…but Julianna Moore I think is the sexist. Maybe because I’ve always wanted real red hair

Great list! I’m also surpised that Scarlett Johanssen (yeah, I know I didn’t spell that right) didn’t make it. And I’d like to give Kate Beckinsale an honorable mention. But Angelina, Natalie, Jennifer… a great top three.
A few more from my Switch Hitter list: Kat Von D and Brody Dalle. They’re both punk rock and I love them. And I think Katherine McPhee is gorgeous *and* amazingly, almost sickeningly, talented.

Angelina is definitely beautiful and if I had to choose from this list I think it would be her or Monica. But, to play for the other team for one night I think I’d take Halle Berry on a date. She’s gorgeous and talented. Perhaps her stunning boyfriend would agree to make a 3-some? One could only hope.
