Friday Eye Candy: Reasons To Watch Football
Football season is here. If you were with me right now you would see that I am not jumping up and down with joy about this. In fact, I’m doing just the opposite.
I hate football.
Now I know that may sound harsh but let me explain.
First of all, my husband seems to think that time stands still when his team is playing. The game trumps all other activities and obligations. I just don’t understand this.
Let me put it to you this way. If The Notebook came on every Sunday, but had an alternate ending every week, would I be entitled to sit on the couch for three hours screaming at Noah and Allie for making the biggest mistake of their lives by breaking up? Doubtful.
Speaking of the screaming, why is everyone so angry all the time during a football game? The players, the coaches, the fans-everyone has a chip on their shoulder. Who needs that kind of negativity? Surely, not me.
Another problem is that I just don’t understand the point of the game. It seems like every time I look at the tv, they are just falling down or standing around measuring things.
Not to mention, the cheerleaders look like whores. (Sorry if there are any nfl cheerleaders reading my blog, but you know it’s true.)
But, the worst part about the game is that the players hide themselves under a bunch of pads and helmets. How on earth am I supposed to know if they are cute or not. It is all just so very frustrating for me.
There is only one reason that I watch football:

That reason is Peyton Manning, the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts. The picture above is from one of his many commercials. Unless you live in a cave, you probably have seen him a couple thousand times on tv. He does spots for Directv, Oreos, Gatorade and I’m sure tons of other corporations. He may not be the most traditionally good-looking guy you’ve ever seen but he seems really nice and he always makes me smile. Did you see him on SNL a few years back? He was way better than Phelps. Sorry, but it’s the truth. Here is the video of the skit that he did spoofing his involvement as a mentor with the United Way on SNL a few years back. Hilarious!
Now for the rest of the list.
Jason Taylor….Washington Redskins DE
Height: 6-6 Weight: 244 Age: 34

And one more since he is incredibly gorgeous:

Tom Brady (too bad he’s out for the season with a knee injury)…New England Patriots QB
Height: 6-4 Weight: 225 Age: 31

Tony Gonzalez…Kansas City Chiefs TE
Height: 6-5 Weight: 251 Age: 32

Brett Favre… New York Jets QB
Height: 6-2 Weight: 222 Age: 38

Tony Romo…Dallas Cowboys QB
Height: 6-2 Weight: 224 Age: 28

Reggie Bush…New Orleans Saints RB
Height: 6-0 Weight: 203 Age: 23

Oh I can’t resist. Here is another:

Brady Quinn…Cleveland Browns QB
Height: 6-3 Weight: 235 Age: 23

Ok, that is all I can do for now. It is late and I’m tired. Plus, no matter how many times I look at that picture of Jason Tayor in the hammock, I still hate football.

For this week’s Aloha Friday question, take your pick:
1. How do you feel about football? Love it? Hate it? Couldn’t care less about it?
2. Did I forget any hot NFL players? If yes, tell me who I left off the list.
3. If you were a television news reporter and had to interview one of these players after the game (For fun, let’s just pretend you were in the locker room and let’s just say the player just got out of the shower and was only wearing a towel) who would you pick?
I look forward to reading your answers in the comments. Have a great weekend!

Got something to say?

I do love football ~ particularly the Dallas Cowboys! I can’t say if you left anyone off the list, I could stuck at #2!
We sat at a table right next to him this summer, and he looks every bit as good in real life…and was nice to boot…with a beautiful, sweet wife! OK ~ I’ll admit it, I just went back and looked at the rest of the pics. Very nice!

Oh my goodness, as much as I try I just cannot love football!!! My husband loves it…but me ?? NO.. in fact the very sound of ESPN in the background grates on my nerves lol

COULDN’T CARE LESS, but I agree with the Peyton love. I love when he’s on Letterman and I love the Oreo commercial with Eli and the Williams sisters. “It’s on like Donkey Kong” gets me every time.

I am suddenly at HUGE Washington Redskins fan. That second picture of Jason Taylor on the red towel did it for me. I love the smile (beatiful straight white teeth are such a turn on). Really, I don’t watch NFL football at all and believe it or not, neither does Rob. COLLEGE FOOTBALL on the other hand is another story. Every Thursday night and ALL DAY Saturday…literally the games start at Noon and end around 10pm. Since I’m such a cougar, maybe you could do a Friday Eye Candy with College football players. I bet there’s plenty of hotties in that group too!

I LOVE FOOTBALL! I love almost all sports, but football is definitely my favorite. Maybe b/c the game is so fast-paced and only on for a brief period of time (unlike baseball and basketball). I grew up watching football so it’s always been in my life. Then when I became older I got into it myself (ok, a little bit had to do b/c I started gambling on it, but it was all for fun, like weekly pools), but I still love it as much I did then, if not more. And going to the actual games makes you get into the TV games even more. I went to the Championship game in Green Bay the year the Pack won the SB. SO much fun! Being at Lambeau Field, watching Brett play, standing on six inches of packed snow – a huge rush. I know it sounds silly, but I just love the sport. And it is truly a sport. No matter how many sterroids someone takes, it’s not going to make you read a play any better than someone who isn’t roided up. Loving football also makes my relationship with my husband a lot easier come Sundays in the Fall. We both agree we don’t do anything on Sundays except watch football – especially if my Ravens are playing!!! Go B-more!

1) I only like football when the Patriots are playing – and even then I can’t just sit and watch it – much like a Nascar race I would rather put it on for background noise and occasionally check the score. I agree with your bafflement. It took me a long time to get used to watching Pat games and even then I think I just liked the Pat fans if you know what I mean. After a few years away from that when I see a game now, it’s not the same. A bunch of overweight-looking guys run one way then stop. Then run two feet the other way, then stop. Over and over and over. It’s mundane at best. That said – in my opinion, the Patriots are the best team to watch – because when they charge onto the field everyone there seems to quiver w/ fear or excitement. I never see that for other teams. It’s amazing.
2) Well I know he’s not around now but adam vinatieri – I miss him. He was my fave back in the day – while everyone else lusted for Brady, I was all about Vinatieri.
3) I know it’s kind of traitorous to say this, but of this list I’d choose Brett Favre – I’m not a Brady fan in that way… or any way, I think he’s way over-hyped.

Except for the nice muscles, athletes don’t do it for me. I don’t know why, but they don’t.
Nice muscles, though!

Oh I like how you think!!
Yeah, football….take it or…ummm….sorry got distracted there for a minute by those photos.:) I can take it or leave it usually.
As for the hotties….I’d say you pretty much covered it with the first two!!! Oh yeah!! What WAS the Tuna thinkin’!??

Your list was pretty right on, lol!
I love football!! When I was pregnant with my middle son, I use to dream of Brett Farve a lot!! HA HA HA

I was lucky to find a man that doesn’t watch or care about sports.
Hey, I have an idea for your Friday thingies. Maybe you could do a Where Are They Now thing?

You think YOU hate football? I guarantee I hate it more than you do. HAAAAAAAATE. Adding to the hatred is the fact that I live in a college town, so whenever there is a home game (like this weekend) 40 hojillion people show up and you can’t eat out anywhere or even DRIVE anywhere because there are so many extra people in town! GAH.

Football is OK. I don’t love it or hate it. I’ll watch it if it’s on, but it’s not something I turn on voluntarily.

Football is life. The rest is just details. And the eye candy is just an added bonus!
You forgot Trent Edwards (QB for the Buffalo Bills).
As for who I’d want to interview… I’m going with Doug Flutie, my all-time favorite player. And if I could pick more than one I’d add Andre Reed, Steve Christie, and Don Beebe to the list.
GO BILLS!!!!

I like football. But the kind they play in Europe.
And I saw your pic on calendar before I read this post. I actually thought it was real. Love it!!!

All I gotta say is YUM! Yes I love me some football mainly because I play fantasy football. It makes it a hundred times more fun and when your the only girl on your league and beating the pants off a bunch of boys..makes it all very satisfying.

1. Hate it!!!
2. No clue
3. Jason Taylor, baby! Loved him on DWTS. Just about licked the screen!

I watched football when my kids were in HS either playing or cheerleading. I don’t watch pro ball.

I’m on a sugar high from the eye candy!!!
I like the whole social idea of football, you know, the talking, drinking, fun part of it. I do watch my Auburn Tigers play when on TV but don’t take it all seriously… I’m not one of THOSE college football people. Jason Taylor- totally gorgeous… MMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Love, love, LOVE football! I’m watching the Dallas game right now actually. It took me awhile to like the game. Once I understood it better then I got hooked. I think the athleticism is amazing. Being able to catch a ball on a full speed run looking over your shoulder is no easy task.
The list is great! Reggie Bush’s stomach, oh my word!
If I got to be in the lockerroom with one of them, I think it would Reggie. Wet, in a towel with those abs… Wouldn’t be much of interview, unless by interview you mean me running my hands over his stomach.

All I have to say about that is this: YUM-O!
