Friday Eye Candy: The Ear Candy Edition

My nerves have been a bit on edge this week.  I don’t know if it is all the talk about the economy and the election or just the fact that I haven’t been eating as much chocolate as usual because of this damn diet.  Whatever it is, the bottom line is that I’ve been feeling very unsettled lately.

In times like these, I have a song that I like to listen to that just makes everything wrong with the world feel right again.

I could have the worst PMS, a terrible headache, be stuck in traffic with the kids whining in the backseat and all I have to do is pop this song into the cd player and everything is alright again.

The song is called “Put Me in the Car”  and you may or may not be surprised to learn who sings it.  Take a look and listen:

Are you surprised to learn that Ryan Gosling can sing?

He is not just an incredible actor, kisser (don’t know for sure, but just guessing), fighter for human rights and dj.   He is also a pretty decent vocalist.

The fact that I haven’t posted a picture of Ryan on my blog since September 17th is a travesty.  I think this Gos-drought has gone on way too long and what better way to end it than by sharing his “Put Me in the Car” song.

While the video with all the pictures is wonderful, I still say the song totally stands alone.  To me, it is more soothing than a glass of red wine.

I especially love it when he sings, “It’ll be alright.”  I almost feel like I’m listening to an angel sent right from heaven to tell me that everything will in fact be alright.  All my problems seem to melt away in a pool of Gosling love and all is right with the world again.

Note:  I can not guarantee the claims that this song will cure PMS, hangovers or whiny kids.  Individual results may vary according to your level of Gos-Obsession.

For this week’s Aloha Friday, I have 2 possible questions for you:

1.  Do you have a song that instantly puts you in a better mood?

2.  In the upcoming weeks, I would like to do a sexy musician eye candy edition.  Who should be on that list?

I’m excited to read your responses in the comments.  Have a great weekend!

Almost anything with a good beat will lift me up. I have Stronger by Kanye West and Take You There by Sean Kingston on my iPod. Those usually get me dancing. As for the eye candy, Lenny Kravitz!

Even tho I have zero gos-obsession, I do love this song. Another song that is soothing to me is Tristan Prettyman’s Hello. It’s not really meant to be a mellow song, but I love the sound of it. Have a good weekend.

Right now, the songs that make me feel good are those sung by Hugh Grant in Music and Lyrics. I can watch that movie over and over.

When I’m stressed I like: Had a Bay Day (Daniel Powter). That song got me through the Nevada Highway on vacation in 70 mph winds and tumbleweeds blowing onto the windshield and rain beating down so hard I couldn’t see….all the time my husband saying……OH you’re fine…keep driving!

Well, that is definitely good. I’m pleasantly surprised and enjoyed listening to it.

Sexy musicians? I’m boring and predictable today (must be on edge like you are, lol!) so I’m going with John Mayer and Chris Martin.

I’m pretty easy to impress with music – often any fun, upbeat song by a musician I like will make me feel better.

I’m a total music junkie. I have something on ALL the time. I would have to say my song of the moment is American Boy by Estelle. As for eye candy? I would have to say Lenny Kravitz too!!

So for songs that help a bad mood, there are a good handful like some Beatles songs… Hey Jude or Here Comes The Sun tend to help but any will do and three other musicians – Gwen Stefani, particularly her Sweet Escape album, Jack Johnson’s In Between Dreams album and anything, and I do mean anything, by John Mayer. If that doesn’t do the trick, Burritos by Sublime will.

As for sexy musicians: John Mayer (but only recently), Usher and LL Cool J (yes really), I was going to say Will Smith also but he’s more adorable than sexy… really, ditto for John Mayer… But I have a hard time keeping John out of lists… Okay, my brain is blanking, hopefully you have better luck with someone else.

Anything that is fun and upbeat, you know the kind that gets everyone’s toes tapping and singing along, even under their breath. It was funny last week at Ladies bowling day to see ladies in their 60’s and 70’s singing along and hip butting to Rod Stewart singing Hot Legs, etc…

Stevie Wonder, My Cherie Amour, instantly makes me smile and sing like a fool. :)

Sexy musician you say? Robin Thicke. PLEASE let me see him on your list. That man is all kinds of sexy. WOW! (stopping before I forget I’m married and he’s married).

    Aloha!

I’m such a music fan and so many songs put me in a good mood, too many to list. To pep me up, I love funky-disco-70’s-80’s stuff — KC and the Sunshine Band, Grease, The Go-Go’s, Electric Light Orchestra. I know, it’s pretty sad, my kids make fun of me (even though they secretly sing along to all the songs, too, LOL)

Hmmmm… for sexy musicians, I would have to go out on a limb here, but, I have always loved (stalked;o) Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don’t know if it’s the bad boy tatooo thing he has going on or the poetry of his songs (listen to them, his songs from the last few years are truly poetry), but I love him!

A song doesn’t have to be necessarily a happy song to make me happy. I tend to like more introspective -but not depressing- music. One that neer fails to perk me up though is that one from Benny and Joon, 1,000 Miles?

OK, I’m gonna be the lone dissenter here. It reminded me too much of Bob Dylan…something about his voice. So I turned my speakers off and just stared at the beauty that is Gosling.

I had no idea, but I really enjoyed that. I would definitely buy it. Where did you find it?

Songs that cheer me up? Jason Mraz- I’m Yours, just about anything by the Beatles, Billy Joel, or James Taylor. Oh- and who wouldn’t be cheered up listening to Baby Got Back?

Hot musicians- You already know MY favorite. I tend to go for quirky, so I have to add Jason Mraz and Josh Kelley to my personal list as well. I’m sure that there are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Ooooh I like this song. It is very soothing. Hope I can DL it.
Weird as it may sound I have two things that will always perk me up: Johnny Cash and Barenaked Ladies (the OLD stuff-pre One Week).

This is a really enjoyable song.

Sexy musicians…I am going to think about this and get back to ya real soon. Good idea.

My all-time favorite musician is Rick Springfield. He still looks awesome, so he is definitely one to think about for your list.

My likes in music are all over the place, so to pick a song that makes me happy would be very hard. I love a lot of them!
