Gifts From The Heart
The best gifts are the ones you are least expecting.
One Halloween before we were married, my husband came over to my house to pick me up for a costume party that we were going to later that night. He held a little box behind his back and asked me to close my eyes and stick out my arm. I had no idea what he was about to do and couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened them.
No, he didn’t propose. We had only been dating a few months.
If I’m being completely honest, this gift was actually better than my engagement ring. And it cost almost nothing.
While my eyes were closed, he slipped a corsage on my wrist. Earlier that day, he had gathered some pretty fall leaves, acorns and a few mini pumpkins and attached them to an elastic band. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of this creation but let me just tell you it was perfect. It didn’t cost much but the fact that he went out of his way to surprise me with something so thoughtful is what makes it such a memorable and wonderful gift.
It may sound corny but that handmade pumpkin corsage was the best gift anyone had ever given me. I swear if he had put a diamond bracelet on my wrist, I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much.
Fast Forward About 16 Years to Today…
When my husband came home from work today I told him that someone almost topped his pumpkin corsage. He was totally confused until I showed him the package that came in the mail today:

Amy from My Friend Amy took the time to send me her copy of the Twilight edition of EW. She remembered reading the post where I talked about the fact that we had been looking for it but never found a copy. If that wasn’t already such a sweet gesture, she also included a bar of Godiva chocolate with a special Twilight wrapper.
Chocolate + Twilight = Heaven
The best part was that it was for absolutely no reason. She just wanted to be a nice, thoughtful and totally AWESOME bloggy friend. It was such a lovely surprise and it really made my day!
Thank you Amy!! You are the best!!
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

That is so awesome! unexpected packages ARE the best. Funny, my friend bought me the same chocolate bar, when I became incredibly obsessed with the Twilight book back in August. When my hubby began listening to the audio books, he announced that he was also entitled to a Godiva twilight bar… hmmm.
