Is This A Good Or Bad Thing?

I just read something very interesting.  President-elect Barack Obama is currently reading the Twilight series with his daughter.

While there are many good things that could come out of this, such as:

New National Holidays

Excellent choices for cabinet positions:

And most importantly, using his power for good causes, such as getting Stephenie Meyers to publish Midnight Sun sooner rather than later:

However, I’m a little worried about the repercussions of our next president becoming a Twilight fan.  While he may have had great ideas and plans to change the country for the better, I think that he might become a bit distracted by the addictive nature of the series.

Here are a few of the circumstances that I imagine might happen:

Trying to perfect that “Cullen” look:

And the worst-case scenarios:

Too devastated to go on with running the country while reading New Moon:

Obama refuses to sleep until he finishes Breaking Dawn:

So, I’m still on the fence.  What do you think?

Is Obama reading Twilight a good or bad for the country? Can you think of any other scenarios that might arise if he becomes Twilight obsessed?

Well at least we know he has excellent taste in literature. :) But I can see your reasons for concern. I know I had a hard time concentrating on the real world while sucking myself into those books!

CUTE! I think it’s fabulous that he reads with his girls, although he might be a little more apt to follow the life of Rosalie…

    You are so funny!!!

While I LOVE the Twilight series, and can not fault Obama for reading them…I have to wonder if they are appropriate for his daughters – aren’t his daughter 7 and 10? While the series is about vampires, it is ultimately about true love. I kind of think that a 10 year old is a little young to get it.

I think it is great when any parent gets involved in the books they are reading. There have been a few moms (and probably dads) who have become bigger fans than their kids.
