It’s The End of the World As We Know It

And I don’t feel fine.  I’m actually feeling a little sad today.

I should be in Philadelphia meeting Edward Cullen (ie Rob Pattinson) at a Hot Topic, but I chickened out once I saw the stampede that occurred in San Francisco a few days ago.

Is it just me or is anyone else a little perplexed at why he is appearing at a MALL?!!   It is like Leonardo DiCaprio showing up at Claire’s Boutique in 1998 right before Titanic came out.  Nothing good can come out of this.

I still wish I was there, but instead I sit here.  Alone.  Not meeting Edward Cullen.  And that makes me sad.

I’m also starting to think none of my friends’ husbands like me anymore.  I’m actually pretty sure they resent me for introducing their wives to Twilight.

On our last double date, I got some pretty dirty looks from my friend’s husband whenever the subject was brought up.  In his defense, it was brought up about 20 times 50 times A LOT, but I could still see the steam coming out of his ears from the backseat of the car while we quoted lines from the book and showed each other our goosebumps that we would get just from talking about it. Can you really blame him?

Then, I got a phone call last night from a friend asking me to end an argument that she and her husband were having about the books.  He got on the phone and asked me why I told his wife about these books.  Then he told me about how she redecorated the house.

I said I was sorry (but I’m really not).  I told him to read the books so he could understand, but he refused.  My husband refused too.  Well, in that case, I really can’t feel too sorry for them.

I just feel like there is so much that husbands/boyfriends can learn from Edward.  Actually, Amy did a great post on this.  You should read it, print it out and laminate it so your husbands can read it.  The odds are pretty good that he will most likely throw it in the trash.  They just don’t think they have anything to learn from a fictional teenage vampire in a young adult novel.  They can be so stubborn sometimes.

So, in addition to NOT meeting Edward Cullen today, I am also now totally convinced that the dream I had about the apocalypse is really going to happen (minus the Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling part).

Check out this trailer for the movie 2012 (the projected date given by the Mayans for the end of the world):

This is exactly how I pictured it in my mind. Now normally I get cheered up by disaster movies. They always remind me that no matter how bad things are that at least it’s not the end of the world.  Plus, they always seem like they have a happy ending.  Whether it’s Ben Affleck defeating an asteroid or Will Smith defeating the aliens, it’s all good.  I should be happy that this one stars John Cusack, but I don’t think he is going to defeat anything.  It actually looks like the world may really end.

That stinks.  Now I only have 4 more years to get my house organized.  And really what’s the point if the world is going to end anyway.

Lastly, I’m feeling a little down about the new trend in nail color.  Gray nails??!!

I’m thinking this is definitely the sign that we are living in end times.  Famine, plague, natural disasters, gray nail polish.  It all goes together.

What do you think:  Yay or Nay to the Gray??

I may pick up a bottle and just try it out.   I’ll let you know what I think.

Lastly (wait I think I already said that once, but really this is the last thing), you would think that the fact that it is dreary out today that I would be in a better mood.  You know, because it would make me feel like I’m living in Forks, but it just makes me feel worse.  This is the perfect weather for lining up in a huge crowd of hysterical screaming girls getting ready to meet Edward Cullen.

I mean, do you really blame me.  This beautiful man is only an hour and a half from my house.  Why did I let a little stampede stop me from stalking him.

Ugh!

Leave me a comment about anything.  Twilight, gray nail polish, the weather in your neck of the woods.  It really doesn’t matter.  Comments never fail to cheer me up.

Those books on the shelf are GREAT. I was wondering what to do with mine…

WHY ARE YOU NOT AT THE MALL?? OMG. Don’t you WANT a broken nose?? J/K. Not sure I would do it either but the thought of it is so…dazzling.

The gray polish…I think I kind a like it but only with certain outfits. Both of them are wearing black and I think it looks good.

Grey nail polish? I don’t get it - it looks ugly to me. Really. Silver? YES. Grey? Why bother, you could just go get dirty and play in wet cement or something.

I just can’t get into the Twilight phenomenon. I don’t know what it is. I love to read, but I just can’t get excited about reading this series.

Whether here is rainy and gray but a little bit warmer than normal.

    Gray nail polish? BLECH.

You’re totally gonna delete my comment because of what I said about Twilight, aren’t you? Yeah, I thought so.

i will not watch that trailer, that kind of think freaks the bob saget out of me.

i heard that today is gerard butler’s 39th birthday. where’s his tribute?

  5. blake on November 13th, 2008 12:21 pm

I’d never even heard of that movie! But the trailer looks pretty darn good. I’m not a fan of the gray finger nail polish. Not at all.

And while I completely and utterly respect your relationship with Twilight (I have a family full of women who waited in line for days to get their first editions signed by the author) I think comparing Robert Pattinson to Leo DiCaprio may just be a little pre-mature. Let’s wait until Pattinson has a few Oscar nominations under his belt.

First of all, I am more in love with Edward now, looking at that awesome photo you put up. Yum.E.

I say nay to the gray.

Oh and it looks like I may have some decorating to do. Don’t worry, I don’t have a hubby so no harm done. :D

Ok Im going to say this and hope that I dont have all you guys with pitch forks at my door. My hubs actually encourages me reading Twilight. You know cause it gets a little steamy and he’s an easy target, if you get my drift. Yet, I still haven’t read 3 and 4. Shame on me.

I don’t do Apocalyptic movies. I can’t even watch those disaster shows on Discovery channel. I get very depressed and over anxious.

Wait… Philly got Robert Pattinson? Denver only got the guy that plays Jacob and a couple others whose names escape me. Whoever they were, they weren’t enough to entice me to go out to see them. However, I might have gone if Robert had been there…

  9. Leslie on November 13th, 2008 2:23 pm

Definitely nay to the gray. Not liking it. And yes, I think I’d be standing amongst the hoard of silly girls, being all kinds of silly right there with them. And if I got stomped, maybe Edward would come and check to see if I was OK. Because, that’s what gentleman do. And since I was there to see him, he would feel all obligated and stuff. Only an hour and a half away? So close.

So let’s see… I didn’t see The Notebook until a few weeks ago so it’ll probably be 2015 before I read… OH WAIT, the world will end before then… So i’m good.
    ; )

Is that Gwyneth in the first picture? The nails are bad and so is the rest of it as far as I’m concerned….

  11. Michelle on November 13th, 2008 3:20 pm

I probably wouldn’t have gone either, but I would have regretted it for a long time. Also, I quite like the grey nail polish! Though, it is my favourite colour, so that might have something to do with it :)

  12. Helga Marie on November 13th, 2008 3:26 pm

Nay on gray, as for Edward…err Robert, umm Edward, Robert…

Girl, get your butt in the car and go see him.
Then all of us vicarious fans of your life can hear all about how yummy he is in person.

Edward DAZZLE me, only 7 more days YIPEE!!!

  13. Tonya on November 13th, 2008 3:46 pm

I LOVE the mantle decorations :)

Check out Bella’s Lullaby on Playlist.com……….singers name? Edward Cullen lol.

  14. Heather on November 13th, 2008 4:21 pm

Not a fan of the gray. But am a fan of Edward:) I don’t know that I would have braved the stampede though!

  15. Sarah on November 13th, 2008 4:53 pm

    1) I’m totally with you on Twilight. Rob was at a mall in my area on Tuesday. Alas I had to be a grown up and go to work. Because as much as I love the books…a girl’s gotta eat.
    2) John Cusack is totally my boyfriend and I now have to see that movie.
    3) Gray nail polish would make me look like a corpse. I’m to pale. I think it’s wrong. Gray nails ususally means that you’re oxygen deprived.

  16. NiceOne on November 13th, 2008 6:25 pm

I know. I know. He was near me on Tuesday. It physically HURT to go to work and not go see him. Because, the minute he sees me he’s totally gonna wanna convince me to leave my husband and run away, duh.

Grey nail polish. BARF. But it is sorta Vampire-ish, right?
I am waiting for the day we all start powdering ourselves white (like back in the Victorian era) to look Vampish.

I love your friend’s house decor.

  17. Liz Casstro on November 13th, 2008 6:35 pm

I heart Edward too…but agree that I would like to live out these last 4 years and not get killed by a ginormous group of 14-45 year olds fighting over being the 1,423rd person in line. Oh yeah, I’m not hip on the grey nail polish but would like to hear how it turned out on you.

  18. threeboys1mommy on November 13th, 2008 8:09 pm

    Grey is gross!

I would have so gone to the mall if I were you… all those kids at Hot Topic means no kids at Auntie Anne’s pretzels.

  19. katelin on November 13th, 2008 8:55 pm

i seriously wish rob pattinson was coming to a signing in LA, however i would kind of fear for my safety. these signings and crowds have been insane, i can’t believe it. and i think matt wishes i had never discovered twilight either, haha.

  20. Shannon on November 13th, 2008 9:54 pm

I’m stuck on the grey nail polish. I think it looks so drab - foggy and dull. Who said this would be a good thing I wonder????

  21. McMommy on November 13th, 2008 10:13 pm

THANK GOD I have something to add. Because when I started reading this post, I was all “I’m not going to have anything to contribute b/c I’m a Twilight outcast.”

So here it is: GREY IS BORING.

However, I reserve the right to maybe give it a try if this trends catches on. I mean, I swore I would never wear black and I did and I loved it. Only it wasn’t so much black as it was a deep deep deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep red.

  22. nik on November 13th, 2008 11:37 pm

I agree with the masses here, not digging the nail polish. “Wet cement” commenter said it best. I do rock a shiny gunmetal metallic grey almost black, though. All those other girls are just trying to be me, and not doing a very good job of it.

Wow, I kinda like pretending to be all elitist.

Can’t wait for the eye candy tomorrow!!!

I too, am a Twilight Outcast… (even though my daughter came home from school yesterday demanding her own copy because she can’t get it at the library, it’s constantly CHECKED OUT - and apparently so is Edward Cullen…)

Anyway, I don’t like the gray nails. If they were super sparkly, maybe? But you can’t tell that from pictures. Stick with something else ladies… you’re making us think you all just got back from pottery class.

  24. Michelle@Life with Three on November 15th, 2008 10:10 pm

I found you through WFMW — and hopped on over to this post. We are living parallel lives, you and I. The Twilight thing — you had me cracking up! I’ve already bought my ticket for the movie next week, and I’m dragging all the friends I’ve introduced the book to along with me. And yeah, the whole mall thing? It reminds me of Tiffany’s mall tour back in the ’90s. Edward Cullen deserves so much better. So. Much. Better.
