Looking Fine Challenge: Week 2
This week I started off strong with watching my food portions. Then I fell apart toward the end of the week with the Evil “P” Trifecta: Pizza, Pasta and Pancakes. In my defense, we had a bit of a run in with Hurricane Hanna (ok, so it was only a Tropical Storm at the time) and I needed my comfort food to get me through all that rain and wind. I only gained one pound back from the 5 I lost last week, making my total weight loss 4 pounds so far (in case you are not mathematically inclined).
I did manage to exercise this week. Once. But once is better than not at all so I’m going to be proud of myself for making the effort.
There is still a lot of room for improvement on the water and sleep front. I really have no excuses except that bad habits are really hard to break. I had a revelation this week about how I could improve on my water intake and sleep habits. I’m guessing that the more exercise I do would probably lead to more water drank and more sleep at night. The simple fact that exercise makes you thirsty and tired is what leads me to this huge scientific breakthrough.
To motivate myself to exercise more, I’ve been working on creating a totally awesome workout playlist. I want to include on it songs that you just can’t help but be driven to jump around, run, dance and lift weights when you hear them. Ok, so that may be a little bit much to ask for, but what songs get you pumped up to move? That is this week’s question of the week. Help me add to my workout playlist:
How did you do this week with your healthy living goals? Did you lose any pounds or inches? What songs keep you pumped up during your workout? Write your own post or leave me a comment here.

Got something to say?

I actually just posted my post on last weeks one. I am SO clever, I know!
I actually exercised 3 days in a row. A lifetime best for me. So proud of myself!

measurements in previous comment.
Real Simple Magazine recommends exercising between 5 and 6 pm. It’s working to keep my 2 yr old asleep all night.

Drinking water is so haaaarrrrdddd! I have to make myself and I usually only get in a glass or so a day, unless I’m working out, then I’ll have maybe two glasses a day!
Song suggestions…
What about You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi?
Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani?
Because I’m Awesome by the Dollyrots…I happened on it accidentally while perusing iTunes…I think it’d be a fun workout song.

Lost 2 more lbs this week and I’m thrilled about that. 13.6 more to go. Maybe I can even exercise this week…we’ll see.

I think drinking water is the only thing I’m being truly successful with and I hate water so that’s pretty good, but I’ve gained 3 pounds since this started so that’s not so good…

Way to GO Jen!
I got rid of four pounds this last week or so just by leaving food on my plate and moving my body more often (not “excercise” just getting up and moving away from the computer LOL)… I have a friend who says she found my four pounds. I wonder how that works? Water is NOT easy… especially if you don’t really care for it. I have found that packing around the little mixes to dump in my water bottle helps it go down a little easier and adds some variety. My favorite is Crystal Light Pink Lemonade. One of the songs on my playlist (that I don’t use much anymore) is Europe: The Final Countdown. Hahaha! I usually play it on the last leg of my bike ride (which I don’t use much anymore either).

[...] Jenasked this week what music we play to keep up the workout energy. Well, umm, since I haven’t done that yet I don’t feel like I can honestly answer. BUT I can tell you that when I do exercise, it usually on the elliptical to the upbeat vocab. of my favorite tv shows. Pathetic I know. But since I’m having to exercise indoors due to the four munchkins and strange work hours of Hubby, I do whatever I must. [...]
Umm, in my post I talked about how I work out to my tv shows…. =0) Do you want to know the commercial ditties that get me slidin’ to the beat? lol.
Can I tell you, I’m loving this “accountability”. Perfect. Thanks.

Gah, I’m not making nearly as much progress as you are… but in my own little way, I am putting in an effort.
AND I WOULD BE PUTTING IN MORE OF AN EFFORT IF I COULD FIND MY IPOD! I WON’T ALLOW MYSELF TO GO TO THE GYM WITHOUT IT!
(How’s that for an excuse? It totally fits the music theme of your post, though!)
PS Left a link to my post about it with Mr. Linky.

I’m such a failure again this week!! Boo hiss! I blame my friend from out of town. She forced me to eat lots of bad food and wouldn’t let me exercise. She is so mean. I haven’t even looked at the scale for fear that I have gained weight. I swear I will get my act together one of these days and post a post boasting how awesome I am and all the pounds that I have lost and how I am almost running marathons etc etc.

P.S. when I do exercise I like a little Kanye West ‘Stronger’.
P.P.S I dropped my mp3 player and it smashed to bits and now I have no music. Which really sucks the big one. I need to somehow buy a new one without my husband ever knowing.

this will make you laugh. i went to the little gym place at my condo and was running on the treadmill for a whole 1/2 mile. Then i walked for the rest, so i was on there a long time but mainly walking. this guy comes in and starts talking to me and he says this : ” so are you training for a marathon ?” i almost pee-d myself b/c that is so outrageously crazy. i would NEVER run a marathon,i can barely do 1/2 mile, if that!! LOL
Plus your toenails fall off sometimes , i’ve heard that from 2 different people taht i know that have run marathons … ewww…
(in case your wondering what else i did, i also did those crunches on the big ball, i really think they work better since you get more range and my stomach muscles are really sore today. and i like to just watch tv while i work out, music doesn’t distract me as much, i need to be distracted so i forget i’m at my least favorite place: the gym)

“Buttons” – Pussycat Dolls
Enjoy-

I lost 4.4 this week. I walked one day the week before because with the holiday and all of the rain we got, it just didn’t work out. I walked to work a couple of days this week. I counted points some during the first week but, I’m really just being mindful of what my portion sizes are and going from there. Only 5.6lbs to go for my first goal!
