Where I’ll Be On November 21st
I’ve never been much of a person for bandwagons. To be honest, they seem kind of crowded and not particularly fun.

I didn’t jump on this one:

And I especially didn’t jump on this one:

I still don’t know where middle earth is located or what the hell a hobbit is supposed to be.
That is why I was completely and utterly surprised to discover that I have fallen head over heels in love with the latest bandwagon to be touring the country.

Oh yes, I am proud to say that I am officially a Twilight junkie! I’ve only just finished the first book, so I can’t say anything about the other books in the series. All I know for sure is that I can’t wait to get my hands on them and devour them the way I did with the first one.
I haven’t cared this much about the characters in a book since the Wakefield twins:

I guess maybe that is the point. Twilight is written for a teenage audience. The main characters are still in high school.
It is a story of first love and we all know that I’m a sucker for stories of first love:

There is just something so pure and wonderful about first love. However, there always has to be a conflict. Of course, in Twilight, that conflict is vampires.
I have never read another vampire book. Well unless you count (get it, count) ones with this guy in it:

To be honest, the only thing I really know about vampires I learned from this movie:

And let me just tell you, all I really cared about was how many scenes Corey Haim was in.
Since I’m not much of a fantasy genre type of person, I was really surprised by how much I loved this story. I think it is the combination of the beauty of a perfect first love romance combined with the thrilling suspense of a vampire novel that makes Twilight so engaging.
One of the major elements in Twilight that totally captivated my attention was the sexual tension between the two main characters. It was so incredibly well-written. I could literally feel what Bella was feeling toward her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen.
While we are on the subject of Edward, I have a bit of a confession to make. I’m completely and madly in love with him. I do realize that he is a fictional character, but he is just PERFECT. Even the fact that he sometimes wants to kill Bella doesn’t take away from his perfection. It is just a minor plot detail that for some strange reason just works for him.
All of this brings me to where I’ll be on November 21st. Of course, I’ll be at the premiere of the movie version of Twilight. I’m counting down the minutes. Literally.
When I watch the trailer, I feel a little worried that there is no way that this movie could ever live up to the greatness that is the book. Most movie adaptations of books don’t. I think they did a pretty good job at casting the leads. I’m just hoping the chemistry is there. Watch the trailer and let me know what you think:
Have you read Twilight? Did you love it? Are you excited for the movie?

Got something to say?

Love it, but the movie looks like a huge let-down IMO.

Your description sounds more interesting than the trailer. However, as a huge former fan of Sweet Valley High and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it is no surprise that now that I know what the books are about, I’m going to have to read them. Now, the challenge is going to be finding the time.

I am definitely looking forward to the movie, though I’m sure my husband won’t want to come with me!

I haven’t jumped on that trend yet. I just can’t get past the vampire aspect of it! I’m SOOO not into fantasy stuff like that. Is it worth it?

You know I’m a huge twilight fan – I’m knee-deep in Breaking Dawn right now (yeah that desire to savor it? Mostly diminished now) and I definitely can’t wait for the movie!

I had never heard of this until all the book bloggers started raving about a movie being made from the book. It actually looks quite good IMO. I’m usually one to read the book before seeing the movie, but I’m not doing that this time … I’ve got too many others to read right now. If the movie is as good as it looks I’m sure I’ll dive right into the series, but for now I’m holding off.
And as always, thanks for a fun post! I just love The Count.

Eh, I liked it well enough. I’ll go see the movie.
I’m more excited that you referenced SVH! I loved that series when I was a teen.

I’ve read all of the Twilight series books and am now anxiously awaiting the movie. And, yes, I know what you mean about being a little in love with Edward. I’ve scoured the internet and youtube and watched everything I can find about the upcoming movie. I feel like they’ve done a perfect job casting Edward and Bella, they seem like they are going to have great on-screen chemistry.
And, I was also a huge ‘Sweet Valley High’ fan. Loved ‘em!

I’ve never heard of it, but you’ve intrigued me. Even though it’s about vampires, I want to read it!

I’m pleased to report that I’ve avoided all of those band wagons too, including this one. It seems I can only read thing in blog form now, but I have referred a friend to you. Her name is Liz and she has read the whole series, I hope she swings by.

I’m Here! My friend above (threeboys1mommy) refeered me here because I, too, am in love with Edward. I do feel you on the sexual tension between Edward and Bella and am happy with their casting choices. I hear their chemistry on screne is really strong too…we’ll see.
But I do have one confession to make, I was on the harry potter band wagon (but my sister’s made me do it…promise!)

I SO hope I like this book as much as everyone does. You know those movies that really get hyped up and then you don’t think they were that great. I feel like that’s the direction I’m headed.
I have to finish the book I’m reading first…I may just have to cave and actually buy the book, I have a feeling the library won’t let me keep it for as long as it will take for me to finish it.

so now we get to be BFF’s right??? BEcause I could have written this post. Not being a fantasy fan AT ALL, I expected to hate it. I loved everything you said. The way their relationship is written left me giddy, emotionally moved and electric with nearly every page.
I’m worried about the movie though. Worried it will ruin a beautiful thing. Because, lets face it- Edward Cullen IS perfect… and this guy playing him- I don’t see Edward in him.

I am the only person I know who didn’t love the 1st book. I feel like such a geek! BUT I think I may re-read it. I think the movie looks BETTER than the book. Can’t wait to see it.

I LOVE THE TWILIGHT BOOKS!
I too am obsessed with them. My husband gets tired of hearing about how wonderful Edward is!
Actually he has read the 1st two books and enjoyed them, but not as much as I have!
I’m looking forward to seeing Robert Pattinson portray Edward on the big screen. I wasn’t convinced at first, but now I’m 100% happy with the casting of Rob.

Having been a SERIOUS vampire aficionado my ENTIRE LIFE, I was suprised I got hooked on a series geared towards teens. But it sucked me in.
I was disappointed when I heard who was cast as Edward and Bella…until I saw the trailer you posted. I think I might actually be a little more open to the movie after all. I’ve always been disappointed in the way my (notice how possessive I am) vampires are portrayed in film…especially Anne Rice’s vamps. But we’ll see how this turns out.
Yes, I am a freak…I’ve embraced my inner vampire. *lol*

NO…you can’t have Edward. He’s MINE!! Seriously, I’m with you 100%…my daughter got me hooked on the books and it’s become an obsession with us. We can hardly wait for the movie….but I’ll have to wait until she gets home from college for Thanksgiving before I see it…we absolutely must go together.

How do all of you find time to read??!! I am so exhausted by the time I put my son to bed, that sadly, I haven’t read a book since before he was born (well, minus pregnancy books that I read when I was pregnant, but those don’t really count). I’m still trying to finish Pride and Prejudice and simply haven’t devoted the time to do it. I’m still holding out hope that one day I’ll finish though :-p

I’m watching Twilight too but I wish with all my heart that Warner Brothers put back Harry Potter on schedule.

I heard fabulous things about Twilight, but I have never read the book. The whole vampire thing just really wasn’t my cup of tea. But hearing you describe the book, especially the romance, I think I may have to give it a try.
BTW, I loved the Sweet Valley High series when I was younger!

I have seen this bandwagon go by a few times. I’m skeptical. If, by chance, one of the books ends up at the used bookstore I frequent I’ll take it as a sign.
