Works For Me Wednesday: Manicure and Pedicure Tips

Here’s a quick tip for making your manicures and pedicures last longer.  Before getting into the shower, put some Vaseline on the nails.  This will keep the polish from coming off in the hot water.  I’ve tried it and it really works!

For more tips, head on over to Rocks in My Dryer.

Just for fun…What color polish should I buy for my next pedicure?

#1                                                     #2                                                 #3

I’m looking at this new line of polish called Nicole by OPI.  There are a couple of things that I really like about this brand.  First of all, it doesn’t contain DBP, Toluene or Formaldehyde. All of these ingredients are linked to cancer, developmental/reproductive toxicity and allergies.  Each time a bottle is purchased, OPI’s Colors with a Conscience program makes a donation to one of four charities including the Starbright Foundation, Rock The Vote, Gilda’s Club and American Oceans Campaign.

Painting your nails never felt so good!

I like them all, but I’d probably pick #1. Thanks for the tip!

I think you should pick the pink one. It’s my favorite color and it’s a really good one for summer. Thanks for the tip of putting Vaseline on my nails before the shower! I’ll try it and it and I will let you know how it goes:)

I want number 1 for myself!

Great tip. Going to have to use this one. Especially since I specialize in burning hot showers.

I like number #3, and I especially like this new line without all the “stuff” in it. :)
About the juicing – if you are trying to lose weight right away, then you do replace the majority of meals with juicing. You can have one every 2 hours, I think. And then you eat a balanced supper of lean meat and steamed veggies or a huge salad (without meat or cheese). You are right, the fresh fruits, especially raspberries and blueberries, are very expensive. I am going to try our local farmer’s market this weekend to see if their prices are better than the grocery store. I think they’ll be a little better. Also, Walmart has great prices on big bags of organic apples – they don’t have much else that is organic. Publix has big bags of organic carrots for a great price, too. It can be expensive, though. It just takes a little research to find good prices on everything. :)

But doesn’t all the Vaseline go right into your hair when you shampoo??

I like #2, but I guess I’m the only one!

Wow, great tip! I never would’ve thought of that! I like #3! And I LOVE the ways that companies like a nail polish company are giving back! That’s awesome!

So this tip is one I REALLY need! It never fails, as soon as I get my hands wet, my polish starts peeling off. I’m going to try this out next time I paint my nails… Maybe I should paint my nails so that I can this? Yeah, yeah! That’s better! lol.

[...] Last week I talked about how to make your manicure last longer.  Well, I wasn’t thinking that I’d be talking about manicures again this week because I didn’t want to give the impression that all I do is think about my nails.  Let me assure you, this is not the case.  I’m lucky if they get filed regularly. I like the middle one, but I’m actually a big fan of french pedicures…I find that they last much longer for me, bc as they start to grow out it’s just not nearly as noticeable as bright red! I’ve had several last probably a month and a half! I also have a white touch-up pen that I got in a cheap french manicure kit at WMart that I can use if any of the tips need touching up. I’ll have to try the vaseline tip – thanks for sharing!
