GosWatch: Cool Rider

I often joke on here that if I came face to face with Ryan Gosling that I would attack him.  Of course, I don’t really mean it. At least I don’t think that I mean it. I would hope that I would have enough sanity and dignity to restrain myself.

Clearly, some people need a lesson in personal space.  Ahem..

ryan-attacked

Here is the video behind this photo.  I just love how sweet he is towards the fans.  It makes my heart melt.

Now let’s address the motorcycle.

I don’t remember knowing that Ryan rides a motorcycle.  Is this a new development?  Help me out GosFans.  Am I slipping on my GosKnowlege?

I’ll be completely honest and say that I’m not usually a fan of bikes. They are so incredibly dangerous and the noisy ones with their obnoxious engines just bug me.

With that said, the thought of riding on the back of Ryan’s bike, with my arms wrapped around his waist…. TOTALLY HOT!!!!

And I now have this song in my mind:

So what are your thoughts?

Guys on motorcycles?    Hot or Not?

Ryan on a motorcycle?   Hot or Not?

Grease 1 or Grease 2?

Friday Eye Candy: Cancer Men!!

I’m a little behind with my tribute to all the hot men of the zodiac, but I couldn’t let July pass without showcasing these beautiful men who fall under the sign of Cancer.

cancer-sign

A sensitive, romantic, soft and gentle lover who, when hurt through love, may take considerable time to trust others. Once they feel confident however, the Cancerean can expose a wild side that is surprising in their sexual resourcefulness.  They are loyal and imaginative lovers who delight in cuddling after love making – adore physical displays of affection, romantic dinner dates and communications by way of phone, cards, letter and emails etc.  Since they can be moody, possessive, are often over-sensitive and require constant reassurance, they are liable to react with some jealousy where their partner displays attention to an attractive member of the opposite sex.

Ok, sounds good to me.  Let’s check out who makes the cut of my list of the hottest Cancer men:

Chris O’Donnell

Ed Westwick

Chase Crawford

(Interesting that both Gossip Girl guys are Cancers)

John Cusack

(Note:  Have you seen the trailer for John Cusack’s new movie?  It is called Hot Tub Time Machine.  It is about four guys who are thrown back into the 80’s.  It looks so stupid it may actually be pretty funny.  Watch the NSFW trailer here.)

Steve Burton

(If you are sitting there scratching your head and saying “Steve who?”  that probably means you’ve never watched General Hospital.  Steve plays Jason Morgan on the show and is a favorite of my friend Kate’s.)

alohafriday1

After watching the Cusack Hot Tub Time Machine trailer and being so excited about The Time Traveler’s Wife opening in a few weeks, I guess my mind is on the subject.  So my three questions for you this week are:

  1. Do you believe in the possibility or existence of time travel?

  2. If you had access to a time machine, where and when would you go (keeping in mind that you may not alter history)?

  3. If you could pick one of the guys above to travel with you, who would it be?

More Aloha Friday fun can be found at An Island Life blog.

Random Firsts

The past couple of days have been full of firsts for me.  Would you like to hear about them?

—————————————————————————————————————-

I had my first ménage à trois.

It was my husband’s idea.  I’m sure you could have guessed that though.

It was pretty much as you would have expected.  It sounded like a great idea in theory, but when it was all said and done it was just kind of weird.

wine-003

Ohhh, you thought I was talking about the other ménage à trois.  Sorry about that.  I guess I should have clarified that it was this wine.

It wasn’t the best red wine that I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst.  It really did have a little too much going on (a lot like a real ménage à trois) to be enjoyable (not that I’ve actually experienced a real ménage à trois) (Yet).   The bottle describes it as:

Take a walk on the wild side and explore the pleasures of our Ménage à trois.  Surrender to the seduction of dark, rich berry with a hint of pepper, a lush lingering finish leaving you wishing for more….A delightful blend based on three varietals–Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

And now for my official completely amateur wine review (seriously, I have no idea what I’m talking about):

Overall taste:   C+

Buzz factor: B-

Hangover quotient:  C

I’m still trying to find my “go-to” red wine.  I’ve tried quite a few, but I just haven’t found “the one”.  If you have a favorite red, please leave me a suggestion in the comments.

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

Saturday night was the Jason Mraz concert (more on that later), but let me just say that it pretty much poured the entire night.  At first we tried to wait out the storm under our blanket.

jason-mraz-concert-027

Eventually, we gave up trying to stay dry and just enjoyed the concert.  In the rain.  I’m not talking a spitting rain or drizzle.  Oh no, it was a downpour.

As a bonus, I was able to cross of the whole “dancing in the rain” thing off my bucket list.  I’ve always loved this quote:

dance-rain

Sadly, I didn’t look as graceful as the above ballerina (Who by the way has an umbrella.  I call cheater).

jason-mraz-concert-0601

Yes, I know I look more like a drowned rat, but it really was quite exhilarating, fun and romantic.  It was also kind of cold, muddy and annoying.   So, while I’m glad I had the experience, it was one of those “been there done that” kind of things.  I think I prefer staying dry and warm in the future.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

Finally and this is the MOST exciting of the random firsts–I ran my first mile today!!

I have never ran a mile without stopping.  Ever!   This is a truly MONUMENTAL occasion!  I was so proud of myself that I almost started crying.  I’m not even joking.  There was a wave of emotions and elation that came over me as I rounded the track for the fourth time.  It truly was an amazing feeling.

You better believe that I just celebrated this achievement with an ice cream cone.  Sadly, that is not a first for me.  I celebrate with ice cream way too often.  I’m all like, “Woohoo!!  I got the laundry folded.  Hooray!!  Now, how about some ice cream.”    I really need to work on that bad habit.  But not tonight.  Tonight, I will celebrate.

GosWatch: The Shirt Off His Back Edition

I interrupt your Saturday with a little weekend GosWatch.

So, you know me and my OGD (Obsessive Gosling Disorder).  I like to analyze the photos in question until I can suck every last bit of information I can from them.

Let’s take a look and see what we can learn from this sighting?

Photo #1:

ryan-gas3

What we can learn from this photo:

Ryan shaved his head again!!!!  We learn that buzz cuts are so sexy!   What do you think?

Photo #2:

ryan-gas

What we can learn from this photo:

The gas container is a huge clue into his life.  I’m just not sure what it means.

I’d like to think that Ryan has a lawn mower and cuts his own grass.  Let’s just close our eyes and picture that for a moment.  Sigh.  Was he shirtless in your mind too?

Another possible explanation for the gas container may be a go-cart but that is totally not as sexy.  I picture Jon Gosselin riding a go-cart.  Yuck.  I need to get that image out of my mind as quickly as possible.  Quick, we need another photo!

Update:  Oops, just read the story on JustJared and found out that he was actually filling up the gas can for a friend who’s car ran out of gas.  While this is really nice and everything,  I actually liked the lawn boy image that I had in my mind so I will just pretend that I never read that and carry on with my fantasies.

Photo#3

ryan-gas2

What we can learn from this photo:

Muscles…jeans…pumping…muscles….I don’t know…my brain is mush at this point.

Photo #4:

ryan-gas4

What we can learn from this photo:

Ryan has a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if someone asked for it.

[Note to self:  When meeting Ryan, pose as homeless person and ask him for his shirt.]

I kind of wish he would have given the guy his shoes, though.  They are getting out of control with their scuffiness.

shoes

Did I miss anything?  Can we learn anything else from this Gos-sighting?  Or is your brain mush too?

Friday Eye Candy: Wine and Men Edition

I feel like I need to preface this post with the fact that I just drank a half a bottle of wine.

I don’t typically drink a half a bottle of wine on a Thursday but certain events happened today that just pushed me over the edge.

As I was driving to pick my kids up from camp, I noticed a weird burning sensation around the top of my underwear right below my lower back.    I thought it was my tag.  I moved the tag and went on with my drive.  The burning continued but got less and less intense as I went on with the drive.

By the time I reached my destination, the burning was gone.  I picked the kids up from camp and went on with my day.

Later that afternoon, I went to the bathroom and before I flushed I noticed that there was a crunched up spider sitting on the rim of the toilet seat.

OMG!  I HAD A SPIDER IN MY UNDERWEAR!!!

So, yeah…I had a half a bottle of wine tonight.  Sue me.  I think I needed something to dull the pain and ease the trauma of having a spider living in my underwear half the day.

I was feeling a little sad that I wasn’t at BlogHer this weekend.  Now I’m just feeling lucky to be alive!

I don’t know about you but I really need some eye candy to make myself feel a little better after this frightening event.

[It is Friday and if you are new to my blog, Fridays mean eye candy.  This is where I show off my celebrity crushes in all their glory, as well as spotlighting other blogger's celebrity crushes.  If you would like to have your list posted on my blog, please feel free to contact me.]

Since no one has sent me their list recently, I will just go with a few of my faves.  Honestly, that is about all I can handle after the traumatic events of today.

Ryan Gosling

ryan-couch

James McAvoy

Robert Pattinson

Sorry, but that is about all that I can muster this evening.  I need to go to bed and forget that this spider incident ever happened.

Best Wedding Entrance Dance EVER!!!

I’ve seen plenty of first dance videos on youtube, but apparently that isn’t good enough anymore.  Now people are choreographing their entrance to the church.

I wanted to hate this (ok, so part of me is a little annoyed by it), but I couldn’t help myself from smiling while I watched.

Hurry! Let’s get these people on the choreographer staff of The Notebook Musical.

FYI, the guy at around 1min30sec is my favorite!!

An Open Letter To The People Behind The Notebook Musical

Dear Producers of  “The Notebook: The Musical“,

When the news broke this afternoon that you guys were planning to turn my favorite movie of all time into a musical I had a lot of  mixed feelings.

My first thought was that it was some sort of joke.

Then when I figured out that you were serious about it, my reaction was absolute horror.  You may have even heard my screams of protest.  OH MY GOD, PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!  STOP IT!  SHUT IT DOWN!!!   HALT PRODUCTION IMMEDIATELY!!!

I think I speak for all the fans when I ask you why you would ever want to mess with perfection?

Coolscan

The thought of my beautiful Noah doing “jazz hands” or some other atrocious move just makes me shudder with fear.

noah

My head is about to explode when I think about you turning “If You’re A Bird, I’m A Bird” into a song and dance number.

bird-notebook

And then there is this pivotal scene.

the-notebook-kiss

The scene to end all scenes in the history of scenes.

How on earth can you possibly improve on this or even begin to replicate the romance of that beautiful moment?  I’m just not sure where singing and dance moves are going to fit into this kind of passion.

Frankly, I just don’t understand the whole “bust into song at any moment” concept in any musical, but I really can’t see how it will work with this story.

Maybe I’m wrong.  Maybe I’m not seeing your vision.  Please feel free to enlighten me on how any good will come of this.

As you can tell, I’m not yet on board with this madness.  At least not yet.

Maybe after the shock wears off, I may begin to warm up to the idea, but I’m not making any promises.

Sincerely,

A Devoted Notebook Fan

P.S.  I’m assuming you already thought of this but just in case it didn’t cross your mind–how about contacting Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling to reprise their roles.  I know the odds of this happening is about 6,823,389,824 to 1, but it never hurts to ask.  I’m thinking that this is about the only thing that could save this and make it AMAZING!!

P.P.S. This video sums up all the reasons why I love The Notebook so much.  Please watch it about a hundred times (like I have).

P. P. P. S.  As skeptical as I may be about the prospect of this little project, I can already tell you I will be there opening night.  Front row, center.  With bells on.

***********************************************

So, what do you think of The Notebook being turned into a musical? Would you want to go and see it?

Hollywood Hair

I am way overdue for a cut and color.  The reason I keep putting it off is because I’m not sure what I want to do with my hair.

I’m pretty sure that I would like to grow it out again, but it is in that really-awkward-not-quite-shoulder-length-blah-stage and I am so tempted to get it cut at chin length again.  Especially when I see photos of Ashley Green (aka Alice Cullen) rocking her adorable bob.

ashley-green

I’ve had my hair short or mid-length for so long.  I’m ready for a change so I think I’m going to persevere with the growing it out process.

This is where I need your help.  I’ve been playing around with the InStyle Hollywood Hair Virtual Makeover and I need your advice.  Tell me which celeb style/color looks best on me.

The first step was finding a decent picture of me.  I decided to go with my most recent Hollywood photo (meeting Paul Rudd):

paul-rudd-025

I cropped him out (sorry, Paul) and got to work.

Of course, I had to start by trying out the Farrah Fawcett (R.I.P.):

hair-farrah

Um, yeah…that doesn’t seem to be the right fit for me.  Actually I’m not sure I would be able to pull of the blonde hair at all.

I tried the Kate Winslet with disastrous results:

hair-kate-winslet

And the  Jennifer Aniston wasn’t any better.

hair-jennifer-a

Do you think I could pull off red hair?  I think it takes a certain personality to go red.  I’m not sure that I am that sassy.

Red like Julia Roberts

Can you guess whose famous red locks I am wearing?   Let me give you a clue….I am no pretty woman.

julia

And then there is the question of cutting my bangs.  Ever since seeing 500 Days of Summer, I’ve been wondering if I should trim my bangs like Zooey Deschanel.

zooey

hair-zoe-bangs After seeing the above shot, I’m thinking the answer is a clear HELL NO!!

Alright, let’s get serious….here are a few options that I am really considering as far as color and I would love to hear your opinion.

Option #1:  Blonde Highlights

Option #2:  Auburn Highlights

Summer Randomness

I can’t believe summer vacation is halfway over.  The Back-to-School ads are taunting me.  My list of unfinished projects is taunting me.   How can one season fly by so fast?

Before the entire summer just vanishes into thin air, I thought I’d do a recap of sorts.  Pour yourself a glass of lemonade and get ready for a good old-fashioned random post.

Thoughts On Family Fun..

-We started off the summer with a trip to Kings Dominion in Virginia.  I’m loving the fact that my kids are riding roller coasters with us now.   We rode this one together about 3 times that day:

anaconda_roller_coaster

Anaconda!

Now I know that some readers may be frowning about the fact that I put my kids on these death traps, but I am quite sure that statistically speaking the ride in the car to school is way more dangerous.

-Ever since my daughter learned to ride her bike without training wheels we’ve been spending a lot of time on our bikes.  The only problem is the pain.   I don’t remember my butt hurting so much when I was younger.   To all you avid cyclists, is there a solution to butt pain or is it just part of the deal?

-Last weekend we rode the Baltimore /Annapolis trail and spent the afternoon in downtown Annapolis.  We were walking through the town when I noticed a window display with some very familiar and frightening footwear.  I just had to take a pic for you guys.

summer-09-029

How about a closer look:

summer-09-023

They were actually more disturbing in person than they appear in the photo.  I would have stopped in the store to try them on but I was too scared much in a hurry for dinner.  I couldn’t try them on with an empty stomach (or a full one for that matter).

-We have a new member of our family and her name is Susan.  She lives on our front porch.

summer-09-068

Susan is a morning dove that has taken up residence in our hanging geranium plant. The kids gave her that name and I think it fits her perfectly. Her babies are named Bailey and Jacob.   The poor plant doesn’t have a name.  I’m hoping that Susan and the babies will fly away soon so I can nurse the pitiful thing back to life.

Thoughts On Exercise:

I started a new exercise program and it is going great so far.  I’m scared that blogging about it will jinx it, but let me just say that I think I may have found something I can actually stick with.   Here is what I’m doing:

Toning (I just the basic moves–squats, bicep curls, tricep kick backs, crunches, some yoga, etc..)

Cardio (I have been biking 1.5 miles and/or running and walking 1 mile.  I plan to increase it as I get faster and stronger)

I just put on my iPod and get moving.  It is about 40-60 minutes total from start to finish.

The running is going very well. I’m working my way up to running a full mile without stopping.  It hasn’t happened so far (just 1/2 mile) but I can feel myself getting stronger every day.  The first day I thought I was going to die and now after two weeks of consistently moving, I feel pretty good.  And the strangest thing is that I actually look forward to running.  I never, EVER thought I’d be one of “those” people who say ridiculous things like that, but it is true how addictive it can be.  I love the feeling I get after I finish.

My long-term goal is to be able to do the St. Patrick’s Day 5K.  Now I know that is a really long time away, but honestly it may take me that long to get into shape.  My friend says I should do it because there is free beer at the end.  Am I really going to want to drink beer after running that much?  It seems like a recipe for disaster but what do I know?

On reading…

I finished The New Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and thought it was a decent book overall.  If you’ve read any of the reviews on Amazon, you will probably notice that most people rave about this book.  I thought it was very interesting and I enjoyed learning about life in World War II, but I can’t say that I absolutely loved the book.  I liked how it was written in letter format, but it did make it hard to remember and connect with some of the characters.  Another problem is that I don’t think the story really takes off until about page 180 and that is probably not such a good thing when the darn book was only 288  pages long.

Maybe I’m being harsh.  I didn’t hate the book, but I just can’t say that it was one of my favorites.

I’m currently reading:

odd-thomas

So far so good.

We are also listening to the first book in the Harry Potter saga.  I want to see what all the fuss is about.  I will say that the guy doing the narration is terrific. He  does a great job at the different voices of the characters and also helps my kids to fall asleep.

On TV…

I gave in and started watching Big Brother again.  I don’t know where CBS finds these people but the majority of the house is INSANE.  Seriously!  There is so much drama this season.  I love it!

My favorite houseguest is Jeff:

BIG BROTHER 11And not just because he is hot.  He is one of the only people on the show that doesn’t get on my last nerve or seem like they belong in a mental institution.

Please tell me that I’m not the only loser watching this show.  I know I can’t be since they keep bringing it back year after year.

On Movies…

Well, I’ve already told you how much I liked 500 Days of Summer and how I didn’t really care for The Proposal. Hmm…let’s see what else have I watched?

I took the kids to see Night at the Museum 2.  This was just as good, if not better than the first installment.  I may have just been in a silly mood but there were quite a few laugh out loud parts.  I also really loved Amy Adams as Amelia Earhardt in this movie.  I think I am starting to like Amy Adams in just about anything.   I doubt I’ll see it in theaters but Julie and Julia looks pretty cute:

julie-julia-poster

I wouldn’t say I have a “girl crush” on her but I am beginning to see what all the hype is about her.  She is just a fantastic actress and always fascinating to watch.  I love how she embraces her roles.

Speaking of girl crushes, we recently watched Walk Hard:  The Dewey Cox Story.  While the movie itself was just ok (basically a parody of Walk the Line and other music biopics) I found myself wanting to find Jenna Fischer, kidnap her convince her to move to Maryland so we could be BFFs.   Do you think she would go for it?

On Things To Look Forward To In Fall…

Mark your calendar for October 6th.  It will be an early birthday present for me.  Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones will finally be releasing their much-anticipated* album.

deadmansbones

*Note:  I’m not exactly sure how anticipated this album really is.  I just know that I am very much looking forward to hearing it and becoming a groupie when they go on tour.

Ok, that is more than enough random for one post.  If you want more, head over to Keely’s place for Random Tuesday Thoughts.
