Florida Keys Trip: Key West Part 2
One of the things that people told us not to miss in Key West was a sunset sail.
I’m so glad we listened. The views were beautiful…
In case you were wondering, which I’m sure you were. I did ask the boat captain if I could act out the kiss scene from Titanic and her answer was yes. I decided against embarrassing myself at this point in the night (not enough alcohol plus the boat was too small).
Later, I couldn’t resist another opportunity to act out a scene from my other favorite movie. Don’t worry we’ll get to that in a minute.
I included this one because I thought it was a cute one of my friend Tonya. We’ve been friends since 5th grade and she is one of my favorite people in the world. I thought this one was a cute one of her.
Later that night….this photo was taken. Before you say that I was just drunk and laying in the middle of the road, let me stop you. Yes, I was drunk and in the middle of the road, BUT I was drunk and in the road with purpose. The purpose was acting out a scene from one of my favorite movies.

Florida Keys Trip: Key West Part 1
Ever since I got back from this trip I have been in a major funk. I don’t know if it is post-vacation blues, residual hangovers, pms or what, but I just can’t seem to pull my thoughts together enough to write a coherent post. Please forgive me if this is all over the place.
For my own sanity, I am going to break this vacay-recap into several parts.
Key West Highlights– Part 1:
Let me just first start this out by saying that our Key West hotel was AMAZING!! I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it. It was called The Marquesa. The rooms and grounds were absolutely gorgeous. From the moment we checked in, we were treated like royalty. They poured us a complimentary glass of wine, filled our ice bucket, gave us a tour of the property and genuinely made us feel like we were at home. After a long day of traveling, this was just what the doctor ordered.

Wine…mmmm…starting the trip on a great note:
Since the hotel was located just a short walk away from Duvall Street (where everyone goes to party), we decided to head out for the evening and check out the scene.
We had a fun dinner at Salsa Loca first…
We spent the majority of our first evening at Sloppy Joe’s… such a fun place!
Since our rooms were located right by the main pool area, at night when we slept we could hear the sound of the waterfall. I slept really well that first night (it may have also had something to do with all the drinks we had that night, but I’m still thinking it was the waterfall).
The next day we discovered that they put out complimentary iced tea for the guests to enjoy. You really got the idea that the staff cared if you were enjoying the stay and they wanted to go out of their way to make it nice. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

I couldn’t visit Key West without a tour of the Ernest Hemingway house. I don’t think I’ve read any of his books, but I was really curious to see those weird six-toed cats.

Friday Eye Candy: Leos are Sexy
I do plan to write about my vacation and share some pictures, but I couldn’t let another Friday go by without eye candy.
This week we will pick up where we left off on our tour of the Hottest Men of the Zodiac. It is the Leos time to shine.

I Can Hardly Contain My Excitement!!!
While I was away, there were two HUGE GosWatch developments.
Before I tell you about the news, I feel like I need to clarify that neither development is related to a Rachel McAdams / Ryan Gosling wedding because honestly that would be the BIGGEST and BEST news of all.
Alas, there has been no progress in that area of GosLand. 
However, the first update is BIG and wonderful and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to sharing it with you.
Let’s backtrack a little to last year when I first found out about Dead Man’s Bones. (At least I believe it was last year…my GosTimeline is beginning to blur a little as the years go by). My initial thought when I found out that Ryan was in a band was that someday that band might go on tour and I could become a groupie. Seems like a pretty natural thought progression, right?
Well, someday is OCTOBER 2009!!!!!!!! Dead Man’s Bones is going on tour and I will be there for not one, but TWO of their shows!!!
(Huge thanks to Lindsay for the heads up on the tour dates. If I hadn’t read her email on vacation I may have missed the opportunity!!)
I can’t stop thinking about it. Honestly, I feel like my brain has turned to mush since hearing the news. I’ve been going about my days as usual but my thoughts are constantly interrupted:
Unpacking, laundry… OMG, I’m going to the Dead Man’s Bones Concert… more laundry, paying bills… I will see Ryan Gosling in the flesh…. back to school shopping, grocery shopping… OMG, what if a bead of sweat drops on me?!?!
Did I mention that my birthday is three days before the concert so this is like Ryan’s belated gift to me? I’m almost positive that is why he planned it this way.
Did I mention that the venues are pretty small? It is like the gift that keeps on giving!!
You can read all about the tour and see if they are coming to your town here. Their music won’t be for everyone, but it is slowly growing on me. I’m going to try to upload the newest song that they released, but I’m not sure it will work.

Clothes and suitcases everywhere. Packing, packing and more packing (and my cat did his normal lazy routine, but that is nothing new).
We leave for the Florida Keys first thing tomorrow morning.

Back to School Giveaway

This picture makes my eyes hurt. I’m sorry, but it does. I’m not a big fan of the K-Stew so I obviously think that R-Pattz could do better.

Dear Jon,
I’m just putting it out there. I think that Kate should have sole custody of your kids until you GROW THE F*@K UP!!!
Are you kidding me??
You force Kate to call the police because she (the mother of your children) doesn’t want some skanky-shooter-girl-sorry-excuse-for-babysitter-ho-bag watching your beautiful children?
What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?!
You say that you have the best interest of your kids in mind but you know that isn’t the truth. The only interest you have is getting laid and being famous.
I have a better question for you, Jon. Why the hell do you even need a babysitter in the first place? Seriously! Why not just stay home and hang out with the kids and leave your partying and slutting around until Kate has them?
You disgust me, Gosselin! Just please, for the love of God, do us all a favor and take your Ed Hardy shirts, slutty girlfriends and just go away. Far away.

Friday Eye Candy: Sexy Men of Daytime Soaps
When I was in eighth grade, I got hooked on Days of Our Lives. Throughout high school, my mom would record it on the vcr every day because she was a great mom and tivo hadn’t been invented yet (horrors).
I remember rushing home from school so I could watch all the drama and romance unfold. Patch and Kayla’s wedding was so beautiful, but my favorite couple would have to be Jack and Jennifer.
So much passion. It was hard not to get hooked.
Somewhere along the line I stopped watching Days and started watching General Hospital. I loved the whole Sonny/Brenda/Jax love triangle.
However, without a doubt, my favorite couple on any soap ever was Lucky and Liz:
And I’m talking about the original Lucky. I loved Jonathan Jackson and mourned for weeks after he “died” in the fire. He and Elizabeth had so much chemistry and were just so adorable together. Sigh.
There are a few things you can always count on with the soaps:
- If a character gets killed off, there is no need to worry. More than likely they will miraculously be resurrected from the dead at some point in the distant future.
- If a couple finally gets married and it appears that they will live happily ever after, the ex that they thought was dead will most likely come back from the dead to ruin everything (see rule #1).
- Most of the men on the show are VERY HOT!!
My friend Kate suggested that I feature sexy soap guys and I thought it was a FANTASTIC idea!!
I no longer watch the soaps, so I had to do a little research before doing this post. I’m hoping that I’m not leaving anyone out.
Let’s get started:
Claire suggested Jay Kenneth Johnson, who plays Philip Kiriakis on Days of our Lives:
My friend Kate suggested Daniel Goddard, who plays Cane Ashby on Young and the Restless.
She also suggested Brandon Barash who plays Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital.
(At this point in the post, I’m wondering why in the heck I stopped watching the soaps. I must resolve to put them back on again, if only to drool at all the hot guys.)
Cheryl wanted me to include Michael Easton, who plays Lieutenant John McBain on One Life to Live.
Ok, so I know that I said that I no longer watch the soaps. Well, for the most part that is the truth, but every so often I will tune into GH or Days just to see what is going on. And of course the same people hate each other and the same couples are still having problems. It is kind of nice to know that some things will never change.
Well, one day when I was flipping and came across Days. I stopped dead in my tracks because I noticed this beautiful specimen on the screen.
My own personal favorite…James Scott who plays EJ Dimera on Days. Ladies, he has the sexiest accent ever. Not only that, but the smart people over at Days seem to know what the viewers want and he does plenty of his scenes shirtless. Take a look:

Miley Stripper Thoughts
On Friday night my kids watched the special “iFight Shelby Marx” episode of iCarly.
I thought it was innocent enough.
That was until all weekend and pretty much every single day since the show aired they’ve been playing “iFight Shelby Marx” rematch.
Ugh.
Kicking, punching, wrestling, pushing, shoving….you name it.
This really does reinforce my thoughts on my kids’ exposure to violence and sex on TV. I try to avoid it at all times because they are still so young (7 and 9) and I really do not see any need for it. Kids truly will emulate what they see their idols doing for better or for worse.
Thankfully, we did not tune in to the Teen Choice awards.
I’m counting my lucky stars that my kids are not Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana fans. They’ve watched the show occasionally but I think her voice annoys them as much as it annoys me because they rarely turn it on. They’d much rather watch iCarly or Drake and Josh.
Miley has come out to defend her pole and she says that it was just something to hold onto while she was on top of the ice cream truck. You know, so she didn’t fall off while she was gyrating dancing.
This may very well be the truth, BUT there was SOME ADULT involved in this choreography that was fully aware that it would LOOK like a damn stripper pole. That is the image that they were trying to convey. I don’t care what Miley says. And I just think that is really irresponsible and pathetic that once again she is being taken advantage of.
Because at the end of the day, she is only sixteen years old. I’m really sorry, but no sixteen year old girl needs to be hanging off of any pole dressed like a stripper. Or posing in a magazine in that type of “Come f%#k me pose.” Maybe it is just me. Maybe I’m a prude, but I just want to know one thing.
WHO IS MAKING THESE DECISIONS FOR THIS CHILD?
And of course this whole Miley-stripper-pole-debachle reminds me of one of my favorite Chris Rock bits of all time. It is timeless advice for all fathers.
