- If you need a good laugh (and who doesn’t, right?) then you absolutely have to check out Yahoo! Answer Fail blog. I was laughing so hard that my kids came into the room and asked me what was so funny. Unfortunately, most of the subject matter is not exactly appropriate for a younger audience, but you have to check out the absurdity of these questions and answers. This is one of my favorites. I have a theory–I’m thinking that the People of Walmart are the same people that write in to ask these questions. Good stuff!
- Speaking of absurdity….oh Fox News, you really need to get someone to check your pie charts before putting them on the air. I may not be a math whiz, but I’m pretty there is something a little off about this graph .
- GosWatch–Ryan has been keeping a pretty low profile since his birthday extravaganza at Disneyland. I’ve been going through some serious withdrawals wondering what he has been up to, who he is spending his time with (please, oh please let it be Rachel) and missing his beautiful face. Luckily, this past weekend I got a quick fix in the way of some new photos and a diary entry from his days at the Dead Man’s Bones puppet show. You really need to see the pictures that accompanies this post. If you don’t click, you will be so sorry. Seven words: RYAN GOSLING PAINTING IN A TANK TOP!!
- I love the photos that got leaked of Katie Couric getting down at a party. I know this is a bit out of character for a serious news anchor, but good for her for getting her groove on.
- Speaking of serious journalists, this interview with Taylor Lautner cracked me up! I’m quite certain that if someone gave me a microphone, camera and told me to ask cute boys questions I would have just as hard of a time staying professional.
- Ok, this next mention will not be for everyone so proceed with an open mind or just skip this one. A few weeks ago, I had an angel card reading done by Sassy Pants Freckle Face. This is similar to a tarot card reading but she used a set of cards that bring only messages of love, peace and hope. I’ve never heard of this type of reading before so I was curious and open to hear what she had to say. Well, she totally blew me away with her words of wisdom and encouragement. I was shocked by some of the details that she was able to give me about things going on in my life that I haven’t yet written about on this blog or even told some of my closest friends. I went into it pretty open, but I have to admit that there was some skepticism. I left the experience a complete believer. I wish I could say more but I can’t just yet. It was a really neat experience. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please contact Sassy.
- This little tidbit totally made my weekend! Jeff and Jordan (from last season’s Big Brother) are still dating and rumored to be competing on the next season of The Amazing Race. This is brilliant casting on CBS’s part. The two of them were adorable on Big Brother this summer. This got me thinking about my favorite Amazing Race /Reality show couple of all time– Rob and Amber. I started wondering what they were up to and found out they had a baby (this is old news as it happened this past summer) and that Rob is rumored to be in Survivor 20: Heroes vs Villains. Now, I haven’t watched Survivor for like 10 seasons but I would definitely tune in for this. Check out the complete rumored cast list here.
- Finally, I just wanted to pass along this great opportunity to get involved in World Aids Day. On Tuesday, December 1st, Starbucks will donate five (5) cents for every hand-crafted beverage sold at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada to the Global Fund to help fight the AIDS epidemic in Africa. If you aren’t able to make it to Starbucks on WAD, you can still be a part of the fight against AIDS by visiting www.starbucksloveproject.com. Check it out!
Friday Eye Candy: Jennasis’ Picks
Hope those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful day yesterday. I pretty much ate myself into a turkey coma. I don’t remember eating dessert but I’m pretty sure that apple pie and pumpkin roll crossed my lips at some point in the evening. Aahhh…you gotta love Thanksgiving. Any holiday dedicated to the sheer pleasure of stuffing oneself silly is a winner in my book.
This week’s eye candy is brought to us by a Jennasis. I chose her list to use this week because she had James Marsden on it. I’ve been dying to post the picture of James Marsden below ever since I saw it.
James Marsden + Pancakes (one of the greatest foods ever to be invented) = HEAVEN!!!!
(Of course it goes without saying, but I will say it anyway–Ryan Gosling + Pancakes would be even better than heaven. And yes, there is such a thing as “better than heaven” when Gosling and pancakes are together. Trust me on this.)
Ok, enough pancake talk…let’s see the guys:
Jensen Ackles
Gareth David-Lloyd
(Um, hello! How do I not know this cutie??!! Apparently, he is a British actor, but that is no excuse. Note to self: Add Gareth’s filmography to my Netflix queue immediately!!!)
James Marsden and his stack of pancakes!!!
I don’t know which looks yummier….Marsden or the pancakes, but I’d be happy to try them both out and let you know.
Jesse Spencer
David Tennant (another actor from the BBC)
Ok, so here is my question of the week (probably inspired by James and his pancakes):
If you could only eat one food for the rest of you life, what would it be?
And just to make it a bit more interesting, which of Jennasis’ men would you like to cook/bring it to you?
For more Aloha Friday fun, head over to An Island Life blog.
Monday Mentions
If you are new to Monday Mentions, check out this explanation to learn more.
I’ve been working on a grad school project all this week so my web-surfing time has been severely limited.
I did manage to catch Joseph Gordon Levitt on SNL this past week and I just had to share my my favorite skit–the Say Anything parody:
Now it is your turn. What did you find this week that was worth mentioning? Leave a comment with your link.
Friday Eye Candy: New Moon Shirtless Edition
It doesn’t matter if you are Team Edward or Team Jacob. It doesn’t matter if you loved the movie or hated it.
I think we can all agree on one thing– New Moon rocked the eye candy!!
Shirtless guys in the rain. Shirtless guys in the sun. Shirtless guys everywhere you looked!!
Good ol’ Mormon Meyer sure did know how to strip off some clothes!
Let’s explore this a bit further…
Shirtless Edward!!
Shirtless Jacob (please do not alert the authorities)
Shirtless Emmett (Sadly, he was fully clothed during the whole movie–what a waste!!)
Almost Shirtless Paul
Sexy Shirtless Rescues
Sexy Shirtless Kisses
I think I’m ready to see it again!
So, Jacob (Taylor) made a compelling argument, but I am going to be loyal and stick with Team Edward (Rob).
How about you? Which team are you on?
New Moon Review: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
I’m going to write this review in bullet points because paragraphs seem way too daunting after only getting three hours of sleep. What the hell was I thinking going to a midnight show?!!
SPOILER ALERT!! There will be spoilers in my review so if you’ve never read the books or haven’t seen the movie yet, be sure to skip this post.
The Good:
- K-Stew was slightly less annoying in this movie. She toned down her nervous ticks some and stopped biting her damn lip (still caught a few bites, but no where near as many as Twilight). And she looked so pretty in some scenes. It was definitely more like how I pictured Bella in the book.
- I liked the look of this movie waaayyyyy better than Twilight. The weird bluish/gray/MTV / CW cameras that they used for Twilight drove me insane. I was glad to see that they were gone and they hired a real cinematographer.
- The vampire makeup was less of a distraction in this movie, but I’m still thinking there is room for improvement in this area. The vampires were definitely very pale in NM. I remember thinking at one point that the people in Forks are complete idiots for not realizing that the Cullens are vampires. I mean they looked ghastly at times!!
- I thought they did a pretty good job depicting the October, November, December blank pages. That was one of my favorite parts in the book and I was hoping they would figure out a way to include it somehow. I also teared up a bit when Bella had her nightmares, so good job K-stew, on the screaming.
- I LOVED the music!! Whoever is in charge of choosing the songs for the movie needs to win an award of some sort. It is a great soundtrack and I thought the songs worked very well with the scenes. SPOILER: I especially loved the scene where Bella jumps off the cliff and is under the water with dream Edward. The music was so haunting and perfect for that scene.
- I thought Jacob and Bella had AMAZING chemistry!!! I think I may be a bit Team Jacob after watching this movie!!!
- On that note, I would also like to praise the director for including so many shirtless scenes of Taylor Lautner. God, how many more days until the boy turns 18? This is just so wrong! The girl I went to see the movie with has a 17 year old son so she was horrified at all my “oohs” and “ahs” over Taylor. Sorry, but I’m only human and he is HOT!! And while we are at it, I enjoyed the entire wolf pack–all incredibly cute and likable. Can’t wait for more scenes with them in future movies!!
- All of the werewolf scenes were INCREDIBLE!!! I loved the way they changed from human to wolf. I thought the wolves were totally realistic looking and I enjoyed the facial expressions. Slamdunk on the special effects, New Moon crew!!
- I think my favorite scene was the end with Bella saving Edward at the clocktower. It was exactly how I pictured it in the book (if not better). When she falls into his cold, hard arms and he says “Heaven?” –LOVED it!!
- I thought that they got the Volturi right. I didn’t have a clear picture of them in my mind so I enjoyed seeing their characters come to life on screen. They were creeptasticly AWESOME!! And that scene with the tourists going into the chamber and screaming was chilling!
The Bad:
- I wasn’t feeling Edward in this movie AT ALL!! I can’t put my finger on the exact reason for my lack of enthusiasm. It may have been the new contacts. Honestly, I think I liked his Twilight eyes better. He just didn’t seem as dreamy to me in this movie. Is that what the director was going for since they were trying to build up Jacob? Maybe. I’m also questioning Rob as Edward now. I feel so terrible saying that, but he just didn’t have that same, for the lack of a better word, Edward-ness about him as he did in the first movie. Obviously he doesn’t have as many scenes in this movie, but I didn’t feel like he really captivated me in the scenes that he was in. Please don’t shoot me for criticizing Rob. I love him, but I think he may need some better direction on where to go with this character.
- Not enough Cullen family! Not enough Cullen family!!! I guess this is just a by-product of the book, but that leads me to my next complaint.
- Do they really need to follow the book exactly as it was written? I just felt like (and I felt similar after watching Twilight) that it was just a collection of scenes thrown together without a real cohesive feel to it. It was like they had this checklist of things to include from the book and they worked so hard to get it right that they missed the mark on creating something truly amazing. I mean I LOVED the books, but I think I’d be ok with them adding some things or changing some things if it still made sense and it made the movie BETTER!! For example, I loved the little added touches that they threw into Twilight at the Cullen’s house. Couldn’t they have added a few more Cullen scenes even if they weren’t in the book? Or is Stephenie Meyer that protective of her “baby” and wouldn’t allow it?
- There just wasn’t enough chemistry between Edward and Bella. Again, I know that Edward isn’t in most of the movie, but I just didn’t feel any sparks between Kristen and Rob when they were together. This is a HUGE thing since that is the basis of the entire story. Hopefully, the third time’s a charm and they will get it right in Eclipse. (Please God, let them get it right!!)
The Ugly
- There was just this overall cheesiness that brought the movie down in my opinion. I don’t know if it was the lines they were given that just don’t translate as well on screen as they do in the book, but there were so many parts that I felt embarrassed for everyone involved. I can’t name a scene in particular, but it was just the overall acting, dialogue, and feel of the movie.
I’m going to give the movie a C+. It had a lot going for it, but it once again missed the mark for me. At this point, I’m pretty sure that Eclipse will be more of the same and I’m feeling a bit sad about that since this was probably my favorite book in the saga (after Twilight). Hopefully, I’m wrong and they will BRING IT, but I’m doubtful.
Ok, that is all I can think of for now, but I plan on chiming in on the other New Moon discussion this weekend. So, please be sure to add your two cents over at the New Moon Movie Madness post. Click the button to go there now:
New Moon Movie Madness
It is 3:00 am and I just got back from seeing New Moon. I’ll write up a full review tomorrow because I’m just a tad bit EXHAUSTED!! In the meantime, I just wanted to put this post up so that we would have a central gathering place to share our thoughts on the movie.
- What did you think of the movie?
- Did you like it better than the book?
- Do you think it was better than the Twilight movie?
- What were your favorite/least favorite parts?
- K-Stew–More or less annoying in this movie?
- R-Pattz–More or less hot in this movie?
- Will you see it again?
- What are your feelings about Jacob and Bella’s chemistry?
- Did you feel as guilty as I did about drooling over a shirtless 17 year old ? (Please say yes!!)
Leave your thoughts in the comments. Even better, if you wrote up your own post, please leave a link to your review in the comments as well.
If you decide to participate, please mention the Movie Madness Carnival in your post and link back this post here at Daily Mish Mash. Feel free to grab the banner for your site if you’d like.
[A little reminder about spoilers…I think it goes without saying that you don’t want to include spoilers in your post. If you must include them, please give fair warning that you are doing so by putting a bold MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS at the beginning of the post.]
That’s about it! I can’t wait to read what everyone thought of New Moon!
An Open Letter to People Magazine
To Whom it May Concern,
Really, People? Really????
I can’t dispute Johnny’s sexiness, but it just seemed like a lazy choice to me.
It was as if you realized at the last minute that you hadn’t given any thought whatsoever to Sexiest Man Alive so you had to scramble to throw something together. Since you had a stack of photos leftover from JD’s last run as the winner you thought , “Hey, this works” and plastered his face on the cover.
I’m NOT impressed. Not one bit.
You can do better than this, People! And if you can’t, then I think you need to take a step back and really look in the mirror. With great power comes great responsibility and I don’t think you used yours wisely.
Wake up, People!! This is your most important issue of the year and if you are going to just go about it all half-assed then you should be ashamed of yourself.
After I finish writing this letter, I will be writing to my Congressmen to petition them to pass a new law that restricts the amount of terms that one hottie may hold as Sexiest Man Alive to one! Yes, I know that is a bit harsh, but I just think you need to set aside the Johnny Depps and George Clooneys of the world and make room for some new blood.
I think you know where I’m going with this.
If you need someone to help you with next year’s choice I am more than willing to take on the challenge. Of course, if given the position, I can already tell you the winner right now and save you all kinds of time and effort.
Honestly, you should consider putting Ryan’s beautiful face on all your covers from here on out. Look at those eyes! You can’t go wrong with those eyes.
With all due respect, get your act together, People! Your readers are depending on you!
Thanks for your consideration!
Sincerely,
A Very Disappointed Reader

***Remember that post I wrote a few weeks ago about my encounter with the guys of Glee. Well, it turns out that they were actually doing the photoshoot for this SMA edition of People Magazine when I ran into them in Vegas. Here is the photo they used:
I squealed when I saw this last night because I was like ten feet away from them when they were shooting this!! So neat!
Monday Mentions
If you are new to Monday Mentions, check out this explanation to learn more.
- If you are not already reading Michael Ian Black’s blog, check out this post. It cracked me up!
- I loved this post from McMommy on the two best baby shower gifts ever. I really do think that expecting thank you notes from new moms should be outlawed forever.
- Speaking of things that should be illegal…check out Stop Making That Duckface. Who determined that this look was attractive? (Thanks to my friend Shelie for sending me the link to this site.)
- If you are a mom of an older baby/toddler still in a crib, you should read Shannon’s brilliant idea for how to get a few extra zzzzz’s in the morning.
- You really should check out this AMAZING post from Jen on the topic of real beauty. It is a must read and definitely some food for thought on the topic.
- Who’s excited about James Franco’s General Hospital guest appearance??? Me!!!!! He starts this Friday. Here’s the totally cheesetastic teaser promo. I have a theory that he must have been high on something when he agreed to take this part, but I’m glad that he did! (I am actually even more excited to see that Jonathan Jackson has reprised his role of Lucky Spencer on the show!! I pretty much lost interest in the show when he “died” in that fire. None of the other Luckys that they cast had ever come close to his level of AWESOME!! )
- New Moon is just days away people!!! Do you believe it!?!?! If you are a Twilight fan, you most definitely will want to read about Katelin’s encounter with the cast of New Moon. I’m so jealous but also incredibly happy for her!!
- Speaking of New Moon, I’m planning a special New Moon Movie Madness party this weekend (similar to the one I had for Twilight last year.) Basically, just see the movie and then come back here to discuss it. You can also link up with your own review and then mingle around to the different blogs to meet fellow Twi-fans. Sound fun? Good, hope to see you back here on Friday. In the meantime, help me to spread the word:
That’s all from me, leave the link to your Monday Mentions post in the comments.
Sexy Scorpio Sunday
This is a belated edition of Friday Eye Candy. I figured better late than never, right?
I’ve been bringing you a sampling of some of the sexiest guys of the zodiac and we have come to my favorite sign of all–The Scorpio.
From the book Sun Signs by Linda Goodman:

Ghost Post
Sorry for the lack of eye candy today. The reason I didn’t post is because I died last night.
It is actually my ghost writing this. And from this point on, it will be my ghost writing this blog.
I finally succumbed to the very thing I knew would eventually kill me. Sudden Gosling Death Syndrome. I knew it would happen one of these days. I honestly thought it would be the announcement of a McGosling wedding or the first pictures of McGosling babies, but it just so happened that it was something completely unrelated to any of that.
In case you are wondering what killed me, it was this picture:
Ryan chose to spend his birthday at my favorite place in the world–Disneyland!!!!!! (ok, so my favorite place is Disney World, but it is close enough.)
My heart just about melted when I read the news on Twitter, but when I saw the above photo there was no turning back. My heart exploded into a million pieces.
He’s wearing a Birthday Button for crying out loud!!!!!!! OMG–I can hardly stand it!! It is like two of my biggest obsessions are colliding!
Disney-Gosling-Gosling-Disney-GosDisling!!!! _______________________________(That was me flatlining.)
If I had been able to withstand the pure and utter adorableness of this event, I may have come up with a new item on my Bucket List (and coincidentally Gos-Fantasy #785): Ride Splash Mountain with Ryan!!
Sadly, this will never happen now that I am dead.
Stay tuned for a Special Weekend Edition of Eye Candy!!!
