My Favorite Movies of the Decade
Ok, before I show you my list of my favorite movies from 2000-2009, I have to tell you about the movie that we just watched last night.
I’m one of those people that goes into any animated film automatically hating it because it is a “cartoon”. Even as a child, I’ve never liked cartoons. I tolerated Bugs Bunny and The Flintstones. I’m not sure what my beef is with animation, but it just isn’t my favorite genre of movie.
That said, I absolutely LOVED the movie Up.
If you haven’t watched it yet, please do yourself a favor and see it. It was a beautiful movie that was surprisingly romantic, pretty funny in parts and visually stunning. Just a warning, make sure you have box of tissues close by. I’m not sure if I was feeling extra emotional or hormonal, but I cried like a baby during this movie.
I’d almost say it was my favorite movie of the year, but since it is animated I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m pretty stubborn like that.

Monday Mentions (with retro GosWatch)
Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!
I’ve been trying to stay off the computer as much as possible this week so I don’t have much to share in the way of links.
Luckily my good friend and a fellow Gos-lover sent me a gem of a clip that is a total blast from Ryan’s past and I couldn’t resist posting it on here. It is from Ryan’s days on the cheesy teen drama Breaker High. The clip is only about one minute long–just push play and it will cue up to the right part (about 3:15).
WARNING: You may want to sit down and get out some crackers to snack on while you are watching this because there is a plethora of cheese in this clip.
Ok, so let’s discuss.
I find myself on the fence. I’m having this internal debate with myself. Part of me is completely in awe of his sexy dance moves and confidence. This part of me wishes he would snap his finger at me and slide his way into my bedroom wearing that pimp hat. Then the other part wants to scrape my eyeballs to try and erase this dreadful image of Ryan from my mind.

I have two links that I hope will bring a smile to your face on such a sad day (RIP Brittany Murphy. Even though you weren’t my favorite actress, I still felt sad to hear of your passing.):
- Remember the Roomba kitty that made its Youtube debut about a year ago? (In case you weren’t among the 4 million people who viewed it, here is the link.) That was Roomba Kitty 2008. Roomba Kitty 2009 is soooo much funnier!! Watch as this totally bad-ass cat beats up a pit bull while riding a Roomba. Oh there is so much about this video I love. The dorky sweater on the dog, the mean cat, the perfect song choice, the roomba…it is like Christmas came early with this instant Youtube classic!! If I could wrap this video up and give it to all my family and friends as their present I would and I’m sure they would totally love it. Instead,I’m just going to embed it right here because that is how much I love you all! Merry Christmas! (Note: Song lyrics are NSFW, but it is soooo much better with the soundtrack! Just kick your boss/ kids out of the room and watch it in all its glory.)
- Have you ever noticed the ridiculous suggestions that Google gives you when you start typing in your search. For example, I just typed in “Jennifer loves” and the almighty Google Gods gave me this nifty suggestion:
“Jennifer loves the dorks with huge pork”
Um….seriously? WTF is that? Well, someone decided to take the absurdity of these suggestions and turn it into…what else….a blog. Visit Autocomplete Me for your Monday afternoon giggle.
- Finally, Hewlett Packard computers might be racist. This demonstration cracked me up!

Tis the Season To Be Reading
I know my posting has been somewhat sparse lately. I’m hoping to change that now that I have some free time on my hands with the winter break in full force. My class ended last week and I am feeling like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
(Well, there is still that awful weight called Christmas looming over my shoulders, but that will be magically lifted as of this weekend-THANK GOD!!!)
I have so many goals and projects that I want to accomplish over the next month (LOSE 10 POUNDS!!! LOSE 10 POUNDS!!!!) but one of the ones I’m looking forward to most is catching up on some reading.
I have been reading so much lately, but none of it for pleasure. I so miss curling up with a good book/magazine without having to take notes for a paper.
Here is what I have lined up:
1. I bought this magazine a few months back because my pretend celebrity BFF, Jenna Fischer, was on the cover looking SMOKIN’ HOT!! And since I haven’t had the actual pleasure of sitting down with her over margaritas to discuss cute boys and dieting tips, I thought this would be the next best thing.
I take back what I said about taking notes. I plan to go over this article with a fine toothed comb to extract as much dieting/exercise wisdom as I can from it. I need all the help and motivation that I can get at this point.
2. Remember this Ryan Gosling book mystery?
Well, if you remember correctly, we ended up solving the mystery and found out that the book was Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. He self- published only a few hundred copies, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy. HOORAY!! Apparently the book will be published next summer, but in the meantime I CAN’T WAIT to start reading my copy!!!
3. Finally, my book club is reading this book for January:
I’ve been wanting to read The Shack for quite some time. I’ve heard a lot of good things (and some bad) about it. I think it might be one of those books that you either love or hate and I’m hoping to be in the “love it” camp. Have you read The Shack? If so, what did you think of it?

Friday Eye Candy: RDJ Edition
This week Robert Downey Jr. has been all over the place promoting Sherlock Holmes. I’m not complaining one bit because a day with an RDJ sighting is a VERY good day indeed. Not as good as a day with a Ryan Gosling sighting, but that goes without saying.
While I first noticed his charm in The Pick-up Artist, I totally fell in love with him in Only You:
He went through a rough patch but it makes me so happy to see that he has come out of it in one piece. And looking better than ever, I might add.

I’ve never been more glad to have it be Monday in my entire life. Our heat broke on Saturday morning and the part we needed to fix it wasn’t available until today. I’ve spent the weekend alternating between finishing up my last school project of the semester (PRAISE THE LORD) and trying not to freeze to death.
So, I’m going to make this quick and then go hibernate back underneath the covers (these are the days that I wish I hadn’t laughed at the Snuggie…I would be so much more productive if I had one of those nifty things right about now).
- You know how everyone is making those Best of 2009 year-end lists. Well this one is by far my favorite!!
- One of my favorite blogs is You Just Made My List…He’s grumpy and says a lot of 4-letter words but he cracks me up regularly. Maybe I was just in a giddy mood (due to lack of heat) but this post made me laugh until I cried.
- It’s official. Hollywood is completely out of fresh ideas. I just read that they are once again remaking a classic tv show. Enough already!!
- Finally, in case you may have been up all night tossing and turning, wondering and worrying, let me reassure you….Ryan Gosling is still hot.

Michael Phelps!!! Although I’m not sure why I’m adding the exclamation points as it wasn’t all that exciting. We were in Starbucks and he was there wearing a hoodie, trying not to be noticed. Honestly, doesn’t that draw more attention to you? Anyway, we tried to snap a photo with Kate’s camera phone but it didn’t work, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or just stare at the picture above instead because that is way better anyway.
