Florida Keys: Let’s Wrap This Up
This will be the last you hear of my Florida Keys trip. I promise.
So, it seems that you all are really good at figuring out drunken pictures that depict random scenes from Ryan Gosling movies. I really didn’t think it was that obvious. I mean the stoplight wasn’t even in the picture. You guys are GOOD!
Key West was a lot of fun, but we wanted to spend some time relaxing on the beach. We did this at a place McMommy recommended to me called Tranquility Bay in Marathon, Florida (about 45 min-an hour drive north of Key West).
It was so quiet and pretty there. It definitely lived up to its name and was a great break from the party scene in Key West.
And let me tell you, Marathon is definitely NOT the place to go for a party. That was ok. We still had a lot of fun…we just had to make our own fun.
Here is the view from our beach cottage…seriously, it doesn’t get much better than this.
Looking up from my lounge chair….
One night we decided to get dressed up and go out on the town….yeah, that is kind of laughable just typing it. We were probably over-dressed by about a zillion percent, because there was absolutely NO nightlife whatsoever to speak of in Marathon.
Again, life is what you make of it and we still had fun.
Here is one of all four of us. I loved the way the sky looked that evening. The sunsets there were stunning.
After a few days in Marathon, it was time to make our way back to Miami (where we spent our last night). We were sad to leave the Keys. They really are one of the prettiest places that I’ve been in the U.S. .
On our way back, we made sure to stop at Robbie’s (at McMommy’s recommendation) to feed the giant tarpon fish. What McMommy failed to mention was that my life would be in danger from the lunatic birds (pelicans and seagulls) that would surround and attack you for the bait that was meant for the tarpon.
This one was like the Godfather of the pelican gang.
It was a unique experience to say the least.
This was as close as Brad would get to the action.
However, he had no problem filming and laughing at me getting attacked by the various wildlife at Robbie’s. See for yourself:
Overall, we had a wonderful trip. I would definitely recommend spending some time in the Keys if you haven’t been (maybe not in August since it felt like the surface of the sun most days).
Our next destination is Vegas in October….to see U2. Can’t wait!!

Got something to say?

Robbies!!! So THAT’S the name of that place!!! I swear I never knew the name…just as the “tarpon place”. hahaha!!! Aren’t those things crazy huge? Ew. I hate them! I’m always so scared one of my kids is going to fall in the water and the tarpon and birds will eat them!
And I’m also laughing about Marathon….yes, there is absolutely NOTHING to do there….except lounge by the pool and drink!! But I guess that’s what I love about it. We went with a group of people and just had parties in the villa. Loved that. Although I can see why it would be hard going from Key West (party central) to Marathon (slow pace!).
Glad you still enjoyed it though!!

It really didn’t matter that Marathon was dead–we totally made our own fun.
