GosWatch: Book Mystery Solved (Plus Bonus Muscles)
I’ve got good news and bad news.
First the good news….Thanks to Super Sleuth Sibbli (commenter on yesterday’s post), we now have a title for the book Ryan was carrying.
It is called Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion.

Now for the bad news….The reason it was so hard to recognize is that there were only 100 copies sold.
That is where the bad news ends though. There is actually a lot more good news to share.
The book is an extension of a short story called A Zombie Filled With Love and the author has it on his website. I haven’t read it yet, but it sounds kind of intriguing. Here is the premise:
A zombie in a post-apocalyptic desolate landscape befriends a rare living girl and finds himself being transformed by his relationship with her.
Now here is the best news of all…I just read this on the author’s site:
Odds of WARM BODIES becoming a published book and also a major theatrical film are currently very good.
And then there was this comment left by the author on his blog:
I’m putting two and two together and (fingers crossed) thinking (hoping) that Ryan may be doing research for a new role.
I think a celebration is in order! How about we celebrate by drooling over the new photos from JustJared.

I know I said photos (plural) but I am totally exhausted. The above shot is my favorite of the bunch, but you can view the others over at JustJared.
Whew! Way too many GosWatch developments for one week. Not that I’m complaining or anything.
Thanks for everyone’s help in figuring out the title to that book.
I’m off to read the short story right now. If you read it, let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Edited to add: I just finished reading the short story (I Am A Zombie Filled With Love) and I liked it. As I was reading I was picturing Ryan in the zombie role. This definitely has a lot of potential. I hope to get my hands on a copy of the full book soon.

Wow that is exciting news!

That plot is totally ripped off from Piers Anthony, the book Dragon on a Pedestal. Except in Dragon, the zombie transformed by love is a female.

It is, it’s part of a series published in the early 80’s. The zombie thing is a side plot. The zombie helps them on their quest, and as they go along she becomes more and more human as they show her kindness. Then a witch’s son accidentally drinks a love potion and falls in love with her, so she becomes human.

I’ve read Warm Bodies, and it is definitely one of my favorite books now. What’s funny is that when I found out he was looking into making a movie from it, I was totally pictured Natalie Portman as Julia. And thinking about the book now, Ryan would be an amazing R.

is that an actual tattoo from the giving tree??? ADORABLE…

I read the story and liked it a lot… loved the concept of ‘book trailer’ (i didn’t know those actually existed!). I’ve also read other stories written by him and found them extremely clever… i’ll definitely be on the lookout for more.
On a different note… The giving tree tattoo.. read the story (poem?) a couple of months ago… made me cry (My bf still gazes at me in shock when he sees how much influence words have on me… )
