Kissing This Big Fat Blog Ass Goodbye
I’d like to make a prediction.
In about 8-10 weeks, Jessica Simpson will appear on the cover of either People Magazine or US Weekly looking smoking hot wearing a barely-there string bikini.
The headline will read “How I Got My Body Back” and beneath it will be something like “Follow Jessica’s Plan to Look Great in a Bikini This Summer”.
Mark my words. It will happen.
The pictures of her wearing those dreadful high-waisted jeans got everyone talking. Many people came to her defense, and blasted those who called her fat.
The fact of the matter is she is not fat. She filled out a little and made a fashion mistake, but she is NOT FAT!!
Take note:

She looks like she actually eats real food and doesn’t spend all day working out like a crazy person. To me, she is even more attractive, more attainable and more likable now that she has a few (and seriously it is just a few) extra pounds.
None of this matters. The pressure is too great. She will diet. She will work out. She will lose weight.
It is what celebrities do.
Take Jennifer Love Hewitt. She gained a few pounds and was photographed in a bathing suit last year.

The photos definitely weren’t flattering, but I applauded Jennifer for speaking out against the criticism. She was all “a size 2 is not fat!”
Women around the world cheered for her. Finally, we have a woman in Hollywood with curves and some cellulite who is still confident and beautiful.
Maybe the days of the fifties pin-up girls being the sex symbols are making a comeback.

Of course, it only took a few short months and Love turned against us. She started dieting and exercising with a vengeance. She lost all kinds of weight.

Her size 2? I guess it wasn’t good enough. What does this make her now, a size 0?
It is almost impossible to find a celebrity who isn’t emaciated. Jennifer Connelly used to be so gorgeous. Now I can barely stand to look at her chicken legs. Awful, just awful!

I don’t even know what the heck is going on with Lindsay Lohan’s butt and arms in these pictures. Ick!

And don’t even get me started on the freak show that is Mischa Barton.

She truly looks as though she is starving to death.

Angelina, Keira, Paris…the list of scary skinny celebrities just keeps getting longer. It seems as though you can never be too thin when you are famous.
There are exceptions to the rule. Aahhh…Kate Winslet.

I read that Kate attributes her great figure to 20 minutes of Pilates a day. Now that is inspiring, right? I could handle that.
Wrong! I kept digging and read that she “has progressively eliminated all alcohol, bread and processed foods from her daily intake, sticking only to natural, healthy foods.”
Damn it, Kate Winslet! Thanks for building up my hopes only to destroy them once again with impossible diet ideas.
I can’t stop eating these things. That’s all the good stuff.
Ok, so maybe I can try to cut back a little and eat less junk food. I guess I can try to incorporate more healthy foods in there too.
I know I’m not fat, but I also know that I am not healthy or fit. The thing is that this body is not my best body. There are rolls where there were none before. There are 20 extra pounds too.
More than looking slimmer, I want to feel better. I am sick of being tired and sluggish. I want to be stronger and more energetic.
There is a definite room for improvement, so I am getting back on the fit train and joining in with Tena’s Kiss My Big Fat Blog Ass Goodbye.

In addition to the obvious eat less/ move more, I am specifically planning to:
- Eliminate soda from my diet and find a low calorie alternative.
- Use my Wii Fit 5-6 days a week.
- Try at least one new exercise dvd a week (rent from library for free).
- Incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet. Strive for 5!
- Try to eat 4-6 small meals per day.
- Eat more protein and less carbs.
- Eat from a smaller plate.
- Pay better attention to my body and stop eating when I’m full.
The goal is to lose 5 pounds a month, so by June I will be back to my ideal weight/ size.
I am planning to set up a separate page on this blog to track my journey so I don’t bore everyone with my progress. Please wish me luck and head on over to Tena’s place to join us in this challenge.

Got something to say?

Is there anything Kate isn’t good at? (Besides the dieting ideas?)

I do think that the majority of those actresses are painfully skinny. I do think Kate Winslet is beautiful and I wish I looked like her out of all those women. Its sad that hollywood/modeling industry puts so much emphasis on being so thin. Reminds me of Anne Hatheway (which is a decent healthy size…for now) in “The Devil Wears Prada” where they ridicule her for being a size 6…A SIZE 6!!!! Please….I’d do cartwheels if I were a size 6. Why don’t people, real people, applaud the REAL people like Jennifer Hudson, America Ferrera, Adele, or Queen Latifah? They looks beautful and are NOT a size 2!!!
Ah, I’ll hush now! LOL

Good luck! I hate dieting and exercise. I lost weight because I got sick and am slowly gaining it back so I’m going to get on the Wii fit train here soon. But no soda… I don’t think I could do it. You are a strong woman.

Blake–Your Kate comment totally cracked me up.
Jenn(ifer)–I totally forgot about that part of the Devil Wears Prada. I know they are just trying to depict how it really is in the fashion industry but it is just ridiculous and that part totally got on my nerves.
I read somewhere that Jessica Simpson is getting a lot of flack because she really isn’t that talented and was only known for her great body. I think people like Adele, Jennifer Hudson, etc.. are super talented and have a whole lot more going for them than just their bodies. I’m not saying that they aren’t beautiful fuller sized women but I just think that talent has a lot to do with it.
Leigh–I have been on and off the soda wagon for months. My plan is to only drink them when I’m out at a function, dinner or at my mom’s house. So, maybe once or twice a week. I drink Coke Zero and the more I read about asperatame being the cause of weight gain motivates me to stay on the wagon.

Yikes- those pics are terrifying! Glad you’re in! I’m sick now so I’m not sure if that’s going to derail my progress or not! I do those exact same steps exept for Wii Fit- I’m still on the fence with that purchase… I have had a lot of recommendations for Jillian’s Wii Workout- ever heard of it??

Great post! All those celebrities… ::sigh:: they really do look sick to me. What kind of a message are we sending, saying this is okay, because really it’s not. I don’t want to be a size 2. At all. At this point I’d be pretty freaking ecstatic to be a size 10 you know?
I’m glad you are getting back on the boat though and trying to recommit yourself. It’s about a healthier lifestyle and that’s what counts.

I used to be really insecure about my weight but now? After seeing these pictures, I’m HAPPY that I have meat on me cause at least my jeans look good and when I wear a top, I won’t look like a boy…
Embrace your butts, people!!!

good for you… in regards to the skeletal celebrities though- I totally agree. GROSS… and sad. Sad that they hurt themselves because they feel they have to.

I agree with you. Jessica Simpson looks beautiful – MUCH more so than those skeletal women below.
The ones of Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton turned my stomach. And made me really sad for them.

Good luck honey, they seem like attainable goals.
Of course I got pregnant and am celebrating by eating my bodyweight in Haagen Dagz. Pregnancy definitely has it’s plusses.

My thoughts have been well spoken!! The sad thing is….. MY GOAL WEIGHT IS 135 AND THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE SAYING IS FAT ON JESSICA !!!!! What is wrong here?? When I was in college and weighed 121 everyone thought I had an eating disorder…. and I’m 5′5″….. I just CAN’T imagine weighing that little again! Hollywood has a BIG problem with what THEY think is beautiful…… I think we have it right!!! Good luck with your goals!

Eat more protein and very little carbs is key. That’s is how I got my pre-baby body back and then some. I’m not trying to gloat, but I haven’t been this slim in about for years. Another important thing is to take a day off of the low carb lifestyle at least once a week. It’s a little something to look forward to and it keeps you sane.
