Monday Mentions
A few of the things worth mentioning this week:
- Sometimes I will stumble across a site and think, “Wow, what a great idea! Why didn’t I think of that first?!!” That is how I felt when I found Etsy. I felt the same way when I found Regretsy this week. Oh, people there are some real gems here. It is a collection of crafts being sold on Etsy that are just too awful not to poke fun of. Just to give you an idea, here are a few of my favorites: a real mounted unicorn (with gold horn), a painting of a kitten head on an amputee (that just so happens to retail for the low price of $99,000.00) and finally the entire category labeled “vagina” (because how can you choose just one to highlight).
- This post of Marinka’s (like most she writes) about the status of the top sheet on a bed (tucked or untucked) cracked me up. For the record, I’m insane (according to Marinka) and prefer to have my top sheet tucked in when I sleep.
- One of my favorite past Idol contestants, Jason Castro, is going on a mall tour. Now I know he didn’t make it to the end (despite the fact that I voted about 40,000 times for him), but I really enjoyed the sound of his voice and the style of his music. Check out the locations and dates here .
- Celebuzz has a Goonies (Where Are They Now) photo gallery up on their site. Since that is one of my favorite movies, it was neat to see some of the characters all grown up. Most improved goes to Chunk for sure.
- Is anyone else as excited as I am about Thursday?!! JIM AND PAM’S WEDDING!!!!! The promo video that they keep showing on NBC gives me chills and makes me cry every single time I see it. Can’t wait!!!
- Speaking of The Office, this article about Steve Carrell’s daughter making a profit by selling lemonade to the paparazzi made me smile.
- I found this review of The Notebook months ago, but never got around to linking up to it. It is a MUST read!! Unless, of course, you still haven’t seen The Notebook. In that case, stop what you are doing and go to the video store (do they still have those?) and rent it!!!! Anyway, the guy’s blog is called Chick Flicks and Beer and I just love his take on my absolute favorite movie of all time.
Speaking of Ryan Gosling….
- Dead Man’s Bones’ album is now streaming live on myspace and will be available for purchase tomorrow (October 6th)!!!!!!! It is unique and not for everyone (oh God, please let it grow on me before the concert and please don’t let my husband divorce me for subjecting him to this) but I do think it is a perfect sound for a chilly October evening. (Although sometimes when I am listening to it, it scares my cats so I don’t know exactly what that means but I thought it was worth mentioning.)
- Mrs. Priss has found the girl version of Ryan Gosling and it is kind of creeping me out. Seriously, it is weird and I wish I’d never seen it, but you should really click over and check it out for yourself. (FYI, I am not attracted to her in case you were wondering.)

Darn Jason Castro for not coming to WI ::sobs a little:: I loved him.
And um, I kind of liking tucking in the top sheet, too – it has a higher success rate of staying on the bed that way, which means less work for me. Unfortunately my 6′3″ husband disagrees.
Loved the Goonies photo gallery and oh my gosh the SheGosling – a bit disturbing actually.
