Random Firsts
The past couple of days have been full of firsts for me. Would you like to hear about them?
—————————————————————————————————————-
I had my first ménage à trois.
It was my husband’s idea. I’m sure you could have guessed that though.
It was pretty much as you would have expected. It sounded like a great idea in theory, but when it was all said and done it was just kind of weird.

Ohhh, you thought I was talking about the other ménage à trois. Sorry about that. I guess I should have clarified that it was this wine.
It wasn’t the best red wine that I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst. It really did have a little too much going on (a lot like a real ménage à trois) to be enjoyable (not that I’ve actually experienced a real ménage à trois) (Yet). The bottle describes it as:
Take a walk on the wild side and explore the pleasures of our Ménage à trois. Surrender to the seduction of dark, rich berry with a hint of pepper, a lush lingering finish leaving you wishing for more….A delightful blend based on three varietals–Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
And now for my official completely amateur wine review (seriously, I have no idea what I’m talking about):
Overall taste: C+
Buzz factor: B-
Hangover quotient: C
I’m still trying to find my “go-to” red wine. I’ve tried quite a few, but I just haven’t found “the one”. If you have a favorite red, please leave me a suggestion in the comments.

Saturday night was the Jason Mraz concert (more on that later), but let me just say that it pretty much poured the entire night. At first we tried to wait out the storm under our blanket.

Eventually, we gave up trying to stay dry and just enjoyed the concert. In the rain. I’m not talking a spitting rain or drizzle. Oh no, it was a downpour.
As a bonus, I was able to cross of the whole “dancing in the rain” thing off my bucket list. I’ve always loved this quote:

Sadly, I didn’t look as graceful as the above ballerina (Who by the way has an umbrella. I call cheater).

Yes, I know I look more like a drowned rat, but it really was quite exhilarating, fun and romantic. It was also kind of cold, muddy and annoying. So, while I’m glad I had the experience, it was one of those “been there done that” kind of things. I think I prefer staying dry and warm in the future.

Finally and this is the MOST exciting of the random firsts–I ran my first mile today!!
I have never ran a mile without stopping. Ever! This is a truly MONUMENTAL occasion! I was so proud of myself that I almost started crying. I’m not even joking. There was a wave of emotions and elation that came over me as I rounded the track for the fourth time. It truly was an amazing feeling.
You better believe that I just celebrated this achievement with an ice cream cone. Sadly, that is not a first for me. I celebrate with ice cream way too often. I’m all like, “Woohoo!! I got the laundry folded. Hooray!! Now, how about some ice cream.” I really need to work on that bad habit. But not tonight. Tonight, I will celebrate.

Congrats on all your first ! Running a mile non stop is huge a dream of mine someday. I think someone would have to be chasing me with a butcher knife for it to happen. I’m know wine expert but I like Yellow Tail Merlot and Red Truck.

Have you ever tried Black Opal wine?

Super congrats on the mile! I started alternating between jogging and walking during my mile to build my stamina.
If you’re trying to shed pounds they sell thing called a sauna suit at walmart for super cheap and you sweat like a pedophile in purgatory.
Keep up the good work!

If I may, try Foris Merlot (Oregon). Love it. I order it special at the local Farmer’s Market so I can have it.
Congrats on the running too. I love to go running but rarely have the time or inclination — hence being especially plump.

What’s wrong with celebrating laundry folding with an ice cream cone? Congrats on the mile run.
I prefer to stay warm and dry also. I really don’t rock he drowned rat look.

Congrats on the mile! Now, put down the ice cream cone…

Have you tried any Pinot Noirs? Especially from Oregon?
I’m trying to be inspired by your running. I’ve wanted to start but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I too reward myself with ice cream all the time. Though Weight Watchers does make some yummy ice cream treats that you can reward yourself with that make you feel a little less guilty!!

Congrats on running your first mile! When we would have to run the mile in school I would always pray for a heart attack so that I could stop running. You’re my hero!

Congrats on your concert in the rain AND on your first mile! I’m a runner myself and know how exhilarating running truly is! Alot of people “don’t get” running until they’ve tried it. And then they are hooked………..
Great RTT!

I’m not a fan of red wine. I prefer white… and the sweeter, the better.
Congrats on the mile! Pretty darn awesome, if you ask me.
I looked into the Event Chaser… but I’m not exactly sure how it works. I saw the form you fill out to be a member. But how do they know what events to send you to? Or even where you live? Is there some other form to fill out???

It’s taken me a while to find my go to wine for red wine as well. Do you have a local Trader Joe’s? If you do, try their spanish red with the yellow label. It’s 5.99 and a temperanillo- and I love love love this one. Very drinkable.

You totally had me with the ménage à trois part…
Great job on running the mile without stopping! I would have celebrated with ice cream, too…
Happy RTT!

Nice job on the running!
You look like you’re having fun – that’s the important part, right??
My go-to red is Obikwa Shiraz (South African). I also rather enjoy Copper Moon, which I think is Australian? Maybe?

Congrats on your first mile, that’s awesome!
And thanks for the heads up on the wine…I have a bottle of it that was recently given to me as a gift and now, after reading what you wrote, I do believe I will be passing along this “gift.” Like you, I’m still searching for my “go to” red wine and am no where near finding it.

First of all, congrats on the mile, that is SO awesome! I pretty much remember what I was wearing the first time I did that too. It is so awesome!
And I’m loving your concert in the rain. Seriously, how fun!
Try a J. Lohr cabernet. It’s a little more expensive but SO worth it!

Congrats on running a mile! That’s something I’m currently working on myself. I love listening to Jason Mraz. His music’s awesome. Dancing in the rain is a LOT of fun. Everyone should do it Gene Kelly style.

Hmmm, I love me some redwine! I haven’t heard of that kind, but sounds fun lol.
Congrats on the mile! I was going to start training for a 5k when I got hurt (I haven’t blogged on that yet since the details are too painful & personal…but I think *you* know) So, I’m extremely bummed I’ll be missing out this go. I am SO happy for you though
