Hollywood Hair

I am way overdue for a cut and color.  The reason I keep putting it off is because I’m not sure what I want to do with my hair.

I’m pretty sure that I would like to grow it out again, but it is in that really-awkward-not-quite-shoulder-length-blah-stage and I am so tempted to get it cut at chin length again.  Especially when I see photos of Ashley Green (aka Alice Cullen) rocking her adorable bob.

I’ve had my hair short or mid-length for so long.  I’m ready for a change so I think I’m going to persevere with the growing it out process.

This is where I need your help.  I’ve been playing around with the InStyle Hollywood Hair Virtual Makeover and I need your advice.  Tell me which celeb style/color looks best on me.

The first step was finding a decent picture of me.  I decided to go with my most recent Hollywood photo (meeting Paul Rudd):

paul-rudd-025

I cropped him out (sorry, Paul) and got to work.

Of course, I had to start by trying out the Farrah Fawcett (R.I.P.):

hair-farrah

Um, yeah…that doesn’t seem to be the right fit for me.  Actually I’m not sure I would be able to pull of the blonde hair at all.

I tried the Kate Winslet with disastrous results:

And the  Jennifer Aniston wasn’t any better.

Do you think I could pull off red hair?  I think it takes a certain personality to go red.  I’m not sure that I am that sassy.

Red like Julia Roberts

Can you guess whose famous red locks I am wearing?   Let me give you a clue….I am no pretty woman.

And then there is the question of cutting my bangs.  Ever since seeing 500 Days of Summer, I’ve been wondering if I should trim my bangs like Zooey Deschanel.

hair-zoe-bangs After seeing the above shot, I’m thinking the answer is a clear HELL NO!!

Alright, let’s get serious….here are a few options that I am really considering as far as color and I would love to hear your opinion.

Option #1:  Blonde Highlights

The Must-Have Accessory For Spring

The swine flu paranoia is still going strong.  I said I wasn’t a worrier but I have to admit that with all the hype, my fears are starting to get the best of me.

I was sitting on the softball field at my daughter’s practice trying to concentrate on reading my book (The Host, which by the way is utterly confusing and horrible so far but that is a whole other post) when my throat started to feel scratchy.  Then I began to feel like I might be having chills.

And of course my first thought was naturally that it must be swine flu.

Why God?????  Why me????   Why not them?????

Take them!!!   In all seriousness, God, please spare the rest of us and just take them.

(Saw the Speidi photo on Katelin’s blog and I just had to grab it.  HILARIOUS!!)

Oh, and can I just say that I called it.  If you read this post, you most likely remember my idea for fashionable swine flu masks?  Apparently, the world (mostly Mexico) thinks this is a fantastic idea and have gone on to “pimp” their masks.

I say more power to them!  If we have to live in a world with swine flu, there is no reason why we can’t be fashionable while trying to survive it.

Check out some of my favorites that have made their way onto the swine fashion scene:

Kinda sexy, right?

Butterflies are so 1994, but they are making a comeback thanks to the swine!

Then you have the people who won’t let us forget that this is a scary situation:

This swine flu is no laughing matter.  Or is it?

To see the rest of the gallery of masks, click here.

Then there is this mask.  The mask to trump all swine flu masks.  The Ultimate Sippy Mask.

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to get your drink on when you are trying to fight the swine.  Kinda freaky, but also kinda AWESOME at the same time!!

I’d say get yours today but they are unfortunately sold out.

If you aren’t feeling particularly creative, you can go here and purchase one of these fabulous pre-decorated masks.

Unfortunately, they won’t be ready for about 4 weeks, so we all may dead by then.  That’s the problem with pandemics.  Not a whole lot of wiggle room to put these great ideas into action.

That’s too bad really because it was for a good cause.  The designer plans to donate the proceeds of the mask sales to Children International to help Mexico fight the swine flu epidemic.

I personally would have kept the proceeds and built a swine flu fallout shelter in Hawaii, but that is just me.

So tell me, which one is your favorite mask?

Edited to add:

Seriously, God….put us out of our misery and just take them.

A Few More Answers

Remember way back in January when I had you all ask me questions for my 300th post.  You probably were under the assumption that I was actually going to answer the questions at some point, weren’t you?

Where would you get a crazy idea like that?

Oh, maybe because I said “you leave me a question in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer it in a future post.”

That’s right.  I did mention that there would be answers.  I just didn’t say when in the future it would be.  A few days?  Weeks?  Decades?

Well, the future is now.  I’m going to tackle a few more of the questions today:

Jenn(ifer) asked:

My question for you is what is your favorite Gerard Butler movie?

I took a quick peek at his imdb profile and just realized something.  I’ve seen ZERO Gerard Butler movies.  How is this possible?  Ok, people, you need to point me in the right direction.  Where do I start? What is your favorite movie of his?

I will tell you that I think his new movie with Katherine Heigl looks kinda cute.  Does that count?  See for yourself:

Mrs. Sprinkles asks:

What do you like best about Twilight?

That’s an easy question.  The best thing about Twilight is that it made me remember what it felt like to be falling in love.  Whether the love that Bella and Edward had was real love or just lust/infatuation isn’t the point.  Whatever that feeling is, it is so wonderful and can’t be compared to anything else in the world.  I think Stephenie Meyers captures it perfectly in the first book.

Tiffany asked:

If you were on a stranded island with Edward Cullen and your boy, Ryan, and an airplane came to rescue you, but could only rescue 1 of you, (just go along with me K?) WHO would you want to be rescued? Tough huh? LOL

Well, that is an interesting dilemma.  I’m assuming that I don’t have a family back home waiting for me to be rescued.  Heck, even if I did have a family waiting for me to come home I think I would have a hard time volunteering to leave the island.  ;)

So, who would I want to be rescued.  Hmmmm…this is definitely a tough choice. I weighed all the options, and in the end I’m going to choose Edward to be rescued leaving Ryan and I having to fend for ourselves on the island.  I figure Edward would be totally depressed about being separated from Bella so he’d probably just sit under a palm tree and sulk all day.  Where is the fun in that (i.e. there would be no way that we’d be getting busy.)  There is also the very good chance that he might end up getting so desperate for blood that he decides to kill me.  Again, where is the fun in that?

Ryan seems like the better choice for a castaway partner.

Amy asked:

What do you not eat enough of?

Definitely fruit.  I’m very picky about it.  It seems like fruit has a small window of opportunity when it is ripe  enough to eat but not too ripe that it tastes gross.  Don’t even get me started on the horror that is the cantaloupe.  I gag just thinking about having to eat that disgusting beast.

Teresa asked

My question is, if you could be doing anything in the world at this very moment, what would it be???

I’m thinking that island with Ryan Gosling sounds really nice right about now.

Sarah asked:

Cheetos: puffy or crunchy?

Crunchy.

Peanut Butter: chunky or smooth?

Smooth.

(Who would pick crunchy?  Ick!)

Maureen asked:

If you were going to cook dinner at my house tonight for my family what would you cook and what time would it be ready!!!?????? Cause they are hungry and I am busy playing on the computer.

I’d probably keep it pretty simple and make something like chicken quesadillas and a salad.  I could have dinner ready by 6ish.  Does that work for you?

Stephanie asked:

Which one person’s mind would you read if you had the chance?

I would love to read my cat’s mind but since the question specifically says “person” I guess that doesn’t count.  I’ll pick my husband. No, I take that back.  I can see that ending in divorce.  Honestly, I don’t think there is anyone’s mind that I’d like to read.  Even the cat probably has thoughts that I really don’t want to know about.  If I had to pick someone, I guess I’d say my son.  He isn’t the best communicator so it would be nice to know what he is thinking sometimes .

Your turn:  Pick one of the above questions and answer it in the comments.

patrice0×0x: Love Kate Winsletts speech! How sweet & genuine!

Jen_ryan_normal

dailyjen: Favorite acceptance speech of the night goes to Kate Winslet!!

Honorable Mention for best dressed is a tie between Penelope Cruz and Freida Pinta.  Although I wasn’t sure about either of these while I was watching them on tv, I really like them now that I am seeing them in photos.  I think the detailing in both of these dresses is beautiful.

Worst Dressed:

Mebandwhite_normal

tynie626: beyonce’s dress looked like old a** curtains!!

Jen_ryan_normal

dailyjen: Tilda gets my vote for worst dressed of the night. This is just AWFUL!!!

P1300039_normal

tenakim: the fact that she always looks dead doesn’t help

Honorable Mention for worst dressed goes to Jessica Biel.  She looks like she just got out of bed, wrapped the sheet around her and forgot to do her hair.

Now let’s take a look at some of the guys.   First up, Robert Downey, Jr.  He also wins my vote for best couple.  I love him and his wife together.  They are just so cute and seem like a genuinely happy couple.

3boys1mommy: RDJ looks HAWT!!!!

Twitter_avatar_final_002_normal

iHeartStilettos: I like RDJ better with a little scruff. He can “iron man” me anytime he wants….

Cimg3076_normal

ajsouthern: Wow. Robert Downey CAN clean up

While RDJr. did look incredibly handsome last night, he wasn’t the Robert that most women were waiting to see.  I’m sure that the ratings for last night’s show were up due to the appearance of this Robert.

That would be none other than Robert Pattinson (aka Edward Cullen).  The only problem was that his hotness seemed to render us speechless:

Newavatar_normal
HappyHourSue: robrtrobrt i cant even type
Newavatar_normal
HappyHourSue: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Jen_ryan_normal

dailyjen: EDWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Newavatar_normal
HappyHourSue: jflsdklfkf;lfgl’f;glhg’lh’g;jhl
Tiara_normal
WendiH: saljdsfioasdjrewa I am delirious!
Newavatar_normal

HappyHourSue: OMG Sp so so vampire-y and Edward-y

Here’s a little slideshow of Edward Robert photos from the night. (No song was included in the video so I added a song from the Twilight soundtrack below for your viewing enjoyment.  Just push play on the music player before watching the video.) Enjoy!!

Who did you think was the best and worst dressed of the night?  Favorite moments?

Halloween Hangover

How was your Halloween?   Ours was fun.  The kids got way too much candy and, of course, we checked over it to make sure it wasn’t tampered with pick out all our favorites.

I’m making this obligatory Halloween post short and sweet because I’m finding that my brain is in a fog from all the treats (i.e wine and candy) that I’ve put into my body over the past couple of days.

Here are a few pictures:

My daughter the witch:

My son, the knight:

Ready for Trick or Treating:

Our Jack-o-Lantern (who we nicknamed Edward–thanks to Misty for this great idea):

I couldn’t figure out how to get the picture to show it glowing.  You can see the fangs better when it is glowing.

Remember when I said that my neighborhood goes all out for the holiday.  Well, I wasn’t kidding.  Here is one example of the decorations at my favorite house:

Now for the embarrassing pictures of the adult costume party:

We went as an 80’s hair band rocker and groupie. It was fun doing the big bangs again!  I was having trouble remembering exactly how I got them to stand up like I did back then.

And, lastly, a picture of me holding a bottle of Vampire wine that surprisingly did not taste like how I imagined it would taste (Twilight in a bottle??).  Sadly, sometimes great labels do not equal great wine.

The winner of the bar of Endangered Species chocolate is Diana who said she would “like any flavour” if she won.

(Don’t you just love when people from other countries add that extra “u” in words.  It makes the words look so much more sophisticated.)

Thanks to everyone that entered!  Now, don’t forget to try to buy only fair trade chocolate whenever possible.
